Principal's Report

I hope our students and families were able to take a little ‘half-time break’ this week, with a curriculum day scheduled for students on Monday, followed by the Melbourne Cup public holiday. Our staff worked collaboratively on student assessment, data, reporting and moderation on Monday, as they continue preparations for the Semester 2 student reporting period. Staff have also commenced the student placement process for 2026. This process takes around one month, with staff carefully following the guidance that we also provided to families across multiple newsletters and via Compass earlier this term.

I want to talk a little about contributing to community today. As this newsletter lands on your Compass Newsfeed, our students will be completing their major fundraiser for the year, themed as a ‘walkathon’. Events like this create wonderful memories for our students, however they take a considerable amount of time to plan, organise and deliver. This event has been led by our brilliant Parents’ Association President, Melinda Reid, alongside our wonderful Stephanie Sim. We have also had a small and enthusiastic band of volunteers to support us today, stationed on the event path, ‘ticking-off’ laps and sharing icy poles at the end!

We are fortunate to have a small group of contributors for events like this; however, it is something that we need to continue to build. The ‘cakes for a cause’ events have been a tremendous hit this year, raising critical funds for the school. The buy-in and contributions from families has been consistent and pleasing. I want to see this type of engagement at all our events. We have our end of year picnic on Thursday 27th November and will need plenty of support to run the barbecue, to set-up and to pack-down. Be on the lookout shortly for a sign-up roster for the event; even an hour of support would go a long way towards ensuring this is a great night for all.

Contributions come in a variety of forms at our school. Today you will see our final school council profile, with this project being an important acknowledgement of the fantastic work of this volunteer group in supporting school priorities. You will have also seen a letter posted on Compass from our councillors, explaining the importance of contributing to the parent payment arrangements for 2026. If you haven’t already given this your attention, I encourage you to do so.

Most importantly, the contributions you make are special to your own children. I can guarantee you; they will remember the time you were handing out icy poles at the walkathon or turning a sausage at the barbecue. They love it when you join them on an excursion or listen to them read in their classroom. I hope to keep seeing more of our families contributing at our wonderful school events. Your support makes those events special.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
