Celebrating Our Learning in Term 4
What a wonderful way to finish the year! The Grade 3s have shown curiosity, courage and cooperation as they wrap up an action-packed term, highlighted by our much-anticipated Grade Three Camp Experience. Students demonstrated risk-taking, confidence, and strong self-management skills as they tried new experiences such as pickleball, shelter building and our inaugural Grade Three talent show. Students practised teamwork, independence and self-management in a real-world setting, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow and friendships strengthen.
Back in the classroom, in Mathematics, students explored Fractions and Division, using models, number stories and hands-on tasks to build their understanding of equal parts and equal groups. They used thinking and communication skills to explain their strategies and make connections between concepts.
In Writing, Grade 3s stepped into the role of researchers, gathering information and organising ideas to create clear and accurate information texts. They demonstrated the Learner Profile attributes of Inquirers and Knowledgeable as they developed note-taking, planning and editing skills.
Our Inquiry into Forces was a highlight, with students designing, testing and refining their own Rube Goldberg machines. This hands-on investigation encouraged problem-solving, collaboration and creative thinking as students worked through trial and error to improve their designs.
We also continued our sustainability learning through the Sustainability Superheroes and the Little Bits Competition, where students collaborated to design small creations using the recycled small bits. As part of our sustainability focus, students launched their own Little Bits Competition, inviting other classes to design creations from the collected materials. Grade 3s created the rubric, judged each entry and announced weekly winners at assembly. The entire competition was student-led, showcasing their initiative, leadership and organisational skills.
As Term 4 comes to an end, we are proud of the growth our Grade 3 students have shown in their independence, collaboration and engagement across all learning areas. They have finished the year with maturity and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing their continued success in Grade 4.
