Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,
FOUNDATION BREAKFAST
On Thursday 30th October, our Foundation students arrived bright and early for a special breakfast at school as part of our Camp program!
The classrooms were transformed into a mini restaurant, complete with handmade placemats and menus created by the students themselves.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast of pancakes, cereal, fruit, and juice — a perfect way to start the day with friends. A big thank you to our amazing Year 6 helpers, Mrs Matters, Mrs Giblin, Mrs Sandri, Leona and Tayla for making the morning such a success!
WORLD TEACHER DAY
Today we celebrated World Teachers’ Day — a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank our amazing teachers for everything they do.
Each day our teachers go above and beyond to create engaging lessons, nurture curiosity, and support every student to do their best. Their care and commitment help make our school such a positive and welcoming place to learn.
So on behalf of Warrnambool Primary School we say THANK YOU!
DEAKIN SCIENCE DISCOVERY DAY
What a fantastic week it has been in Science! Twenty-five Year 4 students on Tuesday had the incredible opportunity to take part in the Deakin University Science Discovery Day. Students explored a range of scientific fields, got hands-on with marine life in the Marine Lab as they investigated food webs, and tested their creativity and problem-solving skills as design engineers. They also learnt about the exciting future of hydrogen fuel at the Hycel Research Centre.
It was an action-packed and inspiring day, and we look forward to participating in more discovery sessions next year!
ECOLINK COST CARE INCURSION - YEAR 5
Our Year 5 students had an exciting Science incursion on Thursday! Students took part in two hands-on activities all about our oceans and how to protect marine life.
- Marine Jenga – They explored food chains in the ocean and discovered how all living things are connected. They also learnt how human actions can affect marine animals and their habitats.
- Sustainable Fishing – They found out what happens when too many fish are taken from the ocean and what can be done to fish in a way that keeps our oceans healthy.
Students loved learning about ways they can help care for our oceans, and they showed great curiosity and teamwork throughout the sessions!
READY SET GO TRANSITION PROGRAM
Our Ready, Set, Go transition program for 2026 Foundation students is now underway! The program runs throughout November and December and is a wonderful opportunity for our newest learners to become familiar with school life.
During the sessions, children will meet their teachers, make new friends, explore the classrooms, and take part in fun learning activities — all designed to help them feel confident and excited about starting school next year.
We can’t wait to welcome our 2026 Foundation students to our school community!
YEAR 5/6 CRICKET
Our Year 5/6 students recently took part in the District Cricket competition and represented our school with great teamwork, sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
Both teams showed fantastic effort throughout the day — cheering each other on, playing fair and giving their best in every game. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, great catches and impressive batting!
A big thank you to the staff and families who supported the teams and helped make the day such a success. Well done to all our players — you should be very proud of your efforts!
