You may have noticed these posters up around our school, thanks to Elise and Gab:

Hi, I’m Elise and I’m Gab. Our project is about animal welfare. We’re aiming learn from from people from the RSPCA about what they do and how they impact the environment. We will also be making posters about animal cruelty and adoption, these posters will tell people all about the safety and well being of your pet.

Grade 5 Waste Warriors have been busy again this term! We have been collecting the cans and bottles from each classroom and taking them to the Container Deposit Scheme facility. We have raised $59.70 so far which will help Earthcare St Kilda microchip 6 penguins from the local penguin colony. We will have our final classroom collection this Friday. Thank you to all of the students who have donated their containers so far – there have been plenty of chill j bottles! We have surveyed a number of students from across all year levels at BBPS about litter in our school, and are busy collating the results to determine ways to help prevent litter in the future. This is very important to us, as we regularly pick up rubbish in the yard and would love to see it litter-free.

Upstanders Book Tour: To conclude our Grade 5 Upstanders program, students took part in a special Book Tour where they shared their published stories about cyberbullying and being kind online across the school. Working in small groups, each team prepared a ten-minute presentation that included a short speech and a reading from their story. They visited all year levels across the school to inspire younger students and spark conversations about positive online behaviour. The sessions concluded with thoughtful questions from the audience, giving our students the opportunity to educate others about staying safe online and knowing what to do if they ever feel unsafe. It was a proud moment to see our young leaders using their voices to promote empathy, respect, and digital responsibility.
