Sausage Sizzle
Friday 14 November
On Friday 14 November, there will be a sausage sizzle for Middle School students at lunchtime. Sausages will be sold for $2.50, with all profits going to the Hobart Women’s Shelter Build a Brick Campaign.
Year 7 2026 - Information Evening
Tuesday 25 November
There will be an Information Evening on Tuesday 25 November for parents, guardians and students, commencing Year 7 in 2026. The evening will run from 7.00pm until 8.30pm and will be held in The Farrall Centre.
This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about our Year 7 and the Middle School program, to meet key staff members and other parents. Presentations will include information about the curricular and co-curricular programs, pastoral care structure and what to expect as a student in the Middle School.
Year 8 Independent Project
Friday 14 November
On Friday 14 November, students in Year 8 will showcase their Independent Projects in The Farrall Centre between 11am and 1pm. Parents and members of the community are warmly invited to attend during this time.
Students have been working on developing a new practical skill for the last 16 weeks. They have been documenting their learning journey, and they are now ready to share this journey - answer questions about their achievements, the challenges that they faced, and what they learnt about themselves throughout the process.
The emphasis on this project has been student agency; we encourage students to welcome new experiences, act with courage, and to strive to master new skills by seeking feedback, continuously experimenting and extending themselves.
We would like to thank the mentors who have supported the students throughout this project, and congratulate the Year 8 students for their willingness to ‘step out of their comfort zone’, and for their adaptability and persistence. The wide range of individual projects on display is testament to the curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning demonstrated by the Year 8 cohort.
Hobart City Mission Middle School Donation Drive
From Weeks 3 - 6, the Student Voice Council is running a Donation Drive for the Hobart City Mission. Inspired by our visit to their Safe Sleep Space, we wanted to make a difference to support those who help our community’s most vulnerable people. We usually see which House can bring along the most items; this time, we are going to see which KEY CLASS can donate the most goods!
We will collect items until the end of Week 6. Items can be given to your Key Teacher. Which Key Class will donate the most items?!
Absentees
If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Middle School Office (phone: 6210 2235, or email: middleschooloffice@friends.tas.edu.au). We appreciate your support in this process.
