Grade 3 and 4

3 Days To Go.......ACMI excursion!
The Wild Robot just keeps getting better and better. Each chapter brings new twists, meaningful themes, and exciting events that continue to draw us in. Our classes are completely hooked, and we’re counting down the days until we get to experience it on the big screen at ACMI this Monday!
While we enjoy our class novel, we’re also deep into our narrative unit. Students are in the process of creating their very own picture storybooks, thoughtfully developing engaging characters, vivid settings, and compelling events. A key focus of this work is crafting an important underlying message—one that readers can infer through the story’s details and illustrations. It’s been inspiring to see creativity, imagination, and storytelling skills come together in such wonderful ways.
Maths
A couple of weeks ago, as part of our Data Representation unit, the Grade 3 and 4 students developed their own survey questions and collected data from approximately 30 of their peers. After tallying their results, in the past, students usually presented their graphs in their workbooks. This term, however, they also took part in an ICT lesson where they learned how to use Google Sheets to represent their data in three different ways.
Students showed excellent understanding and enthusiasm as they explored digital graphing tools, and they quickly picked up the skills needed to create clear and accurate graphs. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they used technology to bring their data to life.
Take a look at some of our collated data.
Multiplication and Division Games:
Playing games where students need to compete against a computer is a great way for the students to develop their speed and accuracy when solving multiplication and division problems.

Inquiry
Our Year 3 and 4 students have been having a fantastic time combining creativity, collaboration, and technology in their latest inquiry and digital technologies project — designing their very own Minecraft Biome Worlds! Working in small groups, students have explored diverse environments —from Savannahs to Aquatic —learning about ecosystems, sustainability, and design thinking along the way. It’s been wonderful to see their imaginations come to life as they problem-solve, build, and share ideas in a fun, interactive, and educational experience that truly brings learning to life in the digital world!

Hooptime State Finals
We wish our 3/4 Future Star Girls the best of luck for their Hooptime State Finals on Thursday, 4th December. They play at the State Basketball Centre, and get along to cheer on the girls. Continue to play together, play with respect and play hard. What an achievement already!
Isla in Carmen
Going to see Carmen at the Regent Theatre was such a beautiful experience, made even more special because lovely Isla and her brother were in the cast, and their talented mum, Erica, was playing in the orchestra. Watching Isla on stage filled me with so much pride—she is genuinely talented, and seeing her shine was a real joy. After the performance, I was lucky enough to give her a big congratulations in person.
