Small Acts, Big Impact: Bullying No Way Week

Next week, from Monday 17 to Friday 21 August, RGLPS will participate in Bullying No Way Week—Australia’s national week of action against bullying.

This year’s theme, Small Acts, Big Impact, reminds us that meaningful change often begins with small, deliberate actions. Including someone, speaking up, offering help or simply sharing a welcoming smile can make a significant difference in a child’s day.

This is the culture we are committed to fostering at RGLPS: one that is safe, welcoming, inclusive and supportive; where everyone feels that they belong, diversity is celebrated and bullying is not accepted in any form. Our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Kindness and Persistence guide the way we treat one another and respond when something is not right.

Throughout the week, our Social Competencies learning will focus on these important messages. Students will explore how they can look out for others, demonstrate kindness, speak up safely and contribute to a school environment in which everyone feels welcome and respected.

Bullying prevention is a shared responsibility. When students, staff and families work together, and each of us commits to small acts of kindness and inclusion, we can make a big and lasting impact.

H5 Bird Flu

Cases of H5 bird flu have been confirmed in birds across Australia, including in south-west Victoria.

Our school has steps to follow if sick or dead birds are found at or near our school.

If you see a sick or dead bird at or near the school, please let us know. If you find a sick or dead bird in the community, the advice from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is to:

avoid contact and keep your distance
record date, time, location and take photos
report it to using an online form or through the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888.

We are also following precautions to help protect the chickens at our school from bird flu. We are

keeping feed and water away from wild birds 
keeping birds away from dams, ponds and wild bird areas 
using netting, roofing or fencing where practical 
wearing clean boots and clothes when entering poultry areas.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CARERS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026. All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.A secure link will be provided through Compass on Monday. Book Week is Nearly Here!

Book Week is just around the corner! This year’s theme is “Symphony of Stories,” and RGLPS will celebrate with a range of fun activities designed to inspire a love of books, stories and reading.

A highlight will be our Book Week Parade on Wednesday 26 August at 9:00am. We can’t wait to see which favourite characters and stories come to life—what will everyone be wearing?
