Pathways and Transitions

Every day matters

Pathways

University/TAFE Visits

Term 3 is a busy term for the pathways team, with universities and TAFE’s visiting every single week for the entire term. So far we have had Torrens University, Collarts, Swinburne and RMIT. The likes of Monash University, Melbourne University, ACU and more are still to come throughout the rest of term 3. The aim of these visits is to enlighten all students on what each institution has to offer and how this may benefit the students in their future pathways. We encourage and look forward to as many students attending these sessions as humanly possible.

Open Days

Along with Homestead hosting a range of universities/TAFE’s onsite, the institutions themselves also have their own Open days, where students can explore each individual campus to see if it might be the right fit for them. These days are particularly important for Year 12 students who are now in the midst of deciding where their future lies. Below is a list of most Open days which are still to come.

Year 12 Conversations

From week 7, all year 12 students will be invited once again to have an informal conversation with either Mitch or Brenton about their future pathways. This is a good chance for students to check that they are on the right track before graduating and asking for any advice or tips needed for their final stretch of Senior Secondary education. With VTAC applications now open, this will be a fantastic opportunity to talk through their course preferences.

Transition

It has been a busy and productive time in the Transitions team! We recently welcomed families to our Year 10 into Year 11 Parent Information Evening, as well as our new Year 9 families preparing to join our community for Year 10. Both evenings were a great success, with families receiving important information about subject selection, pathways and preparing for the next stage of their schooling. Our 2027 year 10 families also had the opportunity to participate in school tours, providing them with a chance to explore our facilities, meet staff and get a feel for the Homestead community.

We are now well into our Course Counselling process, with students meeting individually with staff to discuss their subject choices, interests and future pathways. The process has been running smoothly, and it has been fantastic to see students engaging positively and taking ownership of their subject and pathway decisions.
