YEAR 4
FROM THE CLASSROOM
We hope everyone has settled back into the school term routine. This week students have been looking at a feelings thermometer. Students have continued to enjoy reading the ‘Wild Robot’ text as a class.
Last week in Writing students enjoyed learning about our new text ‘The Fall’ where students are learning about a suspense text and how they can create a suspenseful text.
In Maths students have enjoyed the new content review slides that starts each maths lesson on revising previously taught maths concepts and a chance to warm their brains up whilst giving an opportunity to show their understanding and engage with whole class learning.
The students have been very excited about our new Inquiry topic ‘Curious Coders’ where they are learning about ICT including Robotics. The Year 4’s were engaged in Year 4 sports on Friday with
our new sports this term,Soccer, Rugby, Newcomb (volleyball), AFL, Basketball.
On Friday our school also observed a minute silence and the last post with some moving words from our Year 6 students. The Year 4 students were respectful and considerate in remembering the ANZAC soldiers, some classes read stories, watched short video clips, created mindful colourings and making ANZAC cookies.

- We are learning to identify new and interesting words, find the main idea and summarise chapters as part of our text ‘The Wild Robot’.
WRITING
- We are learning to create suspense by varying our sentence length and creating atmosphere through settings.
MATHS
We are continuing to learn to read, write, order and compare decimals to hundredths.
INQUIRY
- We are learning to explore transmitting different types of data between digital systems.
WELLBEING
- We are learning to coping skills when we feel strong emotions. We are learning different ways to ask for help.
