YEAR 3

FROM THE CLASSROOM

This week, our main classroom focus, including during circle time, has been on showing respect and recognising how it feels when respect is returned. Students have continued to settle into their learning spaces and are showing growing confidence with their classroom’s low-variance routines, helping them feel prepared and ready to learn.

The Year 3 classes have continued to explore our Inquiry topic for Term 2, “Healthy Eating”. Students have investigated and explored both the Australian and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander guides to Healthy Eating. Students got to discuss how countries around the world balance their meals and create healthy meal choices. They collaborated with other peers about their choices and were respectful in listening to their choices.

I added way too much butter, but I got the good amount of fruit and vegetables.”

- Asees

I have enough meat, but I have to figure out how to make sure I balance the fruit.”

- Khadijah

“Food is so expensive.”

- Gracie

Students have also begun to use arrays to solve division problems within Maths and exploring summarising and main idea questions within Reading. During Writing, students have begun to learn about the toolkits for their upcoming writing piece based on “Should students bring a pet walrus to school?”
