Year 6

We are excited to share an update on the range of leadership and personal development opportunities our 6 students have been actively involved in this year. These experiences are helping our students grow as confident, responsible and compassionate young leaders within our school community.

CALM Youth Program – Year 6 Students

We are pleased to share that our Year 6 students have recently begun participating in the CALM Youth program, a valuable initiative designed to support their personal development, wellbeing, and social growth in a positive and engaging way.

The program will run for five weeks, with one one-hour session each week.

CALM Youth is a Melbourne-based organisation that delivers school programs focused on helping young people build confidence, resilience, and strong character through real-world connection and mentorship. Their approach creates safe, relatable and supportive spaces where students can develop important life skills in an age-appropriate way.

CALM stands for Composure, Ambition, Leadership and Mentality, reflecting the program’s focus on developing strong character, positive habits and a growth mindset.

This program aligns closely with our school curriculum, particularly the Personal and Social Capability, by supporting students to develop self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and interpersonal skills in meaningful contexts.

The CALM Youth facilitators are experienced educators and mentors who specialise in working with young people. Sessions are interactive and engaging, encouraging students to reflect on their choices, strengthen teamwork, build positive peer relationships, and develop greater confidence and responsibility.

We look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of this program on our students as they grow both personally and socially.

Year 6 Leadership – Harmony Day Presentation (Term 1)

In Term 1, our Year 6 student leaders also took on a wonderful leadership initiative by presenting to classrooms across the school, exploring different cultures from around the world.

These presentations provided an opportunity for students to develop their public speaking skills, build confidence, and take responsibility in sharing knowledge with others. They also supported a deeper understanding and appreciation of diversity, helping to foster respect, inclusion, and curiosity within our school community.

This experience highlighted our Year 6 students as role models, demonstrating leadership through preparation, teamwork and the ability to engage younger students in meaningful learning.
