Spotlight on Humanities Week
Head of Faculty- Humanities and Commerce - Amanda Bopf

Week 6 (25-29 May) is Humanities Week at Mt A! It is an opportunity to celebrate the important role the Humanities subject plays in our College and in society; shaping young minds and contributing to a better world.
As well as acknowledging the value of studying subjects such as History, Geography, Economics and Legal Studies, Humanities Week also highlights the aesthetic role of Humanities in our lives. An appreciation of art, music, fashion and film can be enhanced by what we learn at school in Humanities subjects.
Ultimately, Humanities Week is about having fun with our learning:

1. Humanities MEME competition - OPEN NOW
The only rules: it must be an original slogan, but students may use multimedia for images.
Competition open to students only

2. Guess the Staff Member Competition - Tuesday 26 May
To celebrate 70 years of of Mt A, Homerooms will work together in a photo guessing game. Each of the nine staff members pictured was a proud Mt Alvernian once upon a time. Homerooms will receive a link to the competition on Tuesday morning!
3. Costume Competition - Thursday 28 May
On Thursday, students may dress up as their favourite person from History (or a Geography/Economics/Legal theme) and strut their stuff at first break in Ground Level La Verna.
All competition winners will be announced at assembly on Thursday, 4 June.
AND ...... there are other exciting things happening each day.
On Monday there is a photo booth. Students may come along to Ground Floor La Verna and have their photo taken as an Egyptian goddess or a medieval princess.
On Wednesday we are holding Humanities Trivia in The Nook at first break; students may form a team and come along to share their knowledge, a laugh and some fun prizes.
On Friday students are invited to come to the Assisi room at first break and listen to alumna Amisha Maconochie talking about further study and career pathways for Humanities students.
