Professional Learning Day
Yesterday, our staff participated in a dedicated professional learning day focused on strengthening teaching practice and planning for student success.
A key part of the day centred on understanding that professional growth is an ongoing cycle of reflection, learning, implementation and refinement. As educators, we recognise that every observation, conversation and learning experience provides an opportunity to strengthen our practice and improve outcomes for students. Staff engaged in discussions about effective teaching, collaborative feedback processes and ways to continually enhance the learning experiences we provide for every child.
The day also provided valuable time for teachers to work together on planning and preparation for Term 3. Through collaborative planning, staff reviewed curriculum requirements, developed learning sequences and discussed strategies to ensure consistency and high-quality teaching across all year levels.
Another important focus was student assessment and reporting. Teachers analysed a range of assessment data and evidence of student learning to formulate progression points for Semester 1 reporting. This process ensures that reporting accurately reflects each student's current stage of learning and provides families with meaningful information about their child's progress.
Crazy Hair Day
A big thank you to all families and students for their fantastic participation in our Crazy Hair Day in support of the World’s Greatest Shave. The creativity on display was outstanding, with students arriving at school sporting some truly wild and wacky hairstyles, made possible through the wonderful support and effort of families at home.
We are delighted to share that the school has easily surpassed its fundraising target of $750, raising a total of $1,125 for this important cause. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the generosity and community spirit across our school.
A special mention goes to Mr Shute, who fulfilled his promise made at assembly and bravely shaved his head in support of the cause.
AMC Maths Competition
We encourage all interested students to participate in the upcoming Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) at our school. The competition is designed to be engaging and accessible for a wide range of learners, allowing students to build confidence, extend their mathematical thinking, and enjoy tackling interesting and creative problems.
The AMC provides students with a wonderful opportunity to challenge themselves in a supportive environment while developing valuable problem-solving skills.
We would love families to consider this rewarding opportunity for their child. Registrations can be completed via Compass.
All students who participate will receive a participation certificate acknowledging their involvement. Students who perform exceptionally well may also be recognised with Distinction and High Distinction awards.
We look forward to seeing many of our students involved in this exciting opportunity.
We acknowledge the Bunurong people, the Traditional
Owners of the land on which Baxter Primary School resides, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
