Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

Brace yourselves, Winter is here! What a wet and miserable week of weather we've had. Despite the weather, we've been able to get outside at recess and lunch when possible. Plenty of soccer, cubby playing, sandpit building and monkey bars still on the menu. Best of all, our whole school disco is next Thursday afternoon - a celebration for reaching our SWPBS goal. A party that's well deserved!!!

We start next week with an extra long weekend with a Curriculum Day Tuesday following the Kings Birthday public holiday (students will be absent on this day). Teachers will be on site refreshing their CPR and anaphalaxis knowledge, as well as diving deeper into understanding more of how students learn best in Literacy - see below for snippet of our Annual Implementation goal we're working on.

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

Please be mindful of the cold weather when helping your child prepare their uniform for the day. We're noticing plenty without jumpers and jackets, please encourage wearing some warm layers! This really supports our sustainable practices by layering up, being warm and minimising the time spent of the heaters blasting. We have some second hand uniform available at the office for a gold coin donation, alternatively you can jump on Edu-Threads to look at the Winter range.

CROSS COUNTRY

Essie and Chloe, amazing efforts at Division Cross Country in Castlemaine. It's an incredible effort to make it that far and to run so well. It doesn't end there, they both for made it to the regional event in St Arnaud earlier this week. What a fantastic effort girls, woohoo!!!!

NPS INFORMATION AFTERNOON

Wednesday 17th June (4:00 - 5:00pm)

You shared the things you wanted to know more about, now it's our turn to share these with you. Come along for an afternoon at school where we will cover:

  • Life as a student at NPS
  • What it means to differentiate learning
  • Wellbeing practices at NPS
  • What makes our senior years great, and what's new for future grade 5/6s
  • The benefits of seeing Primary School all the way through to grade 6

We’re the little school with a big heart, but there’s far more to us than that. We want to share our story, why it’s a special place to learn, the things we do and why we do them.  From the early foundations of learning to the senior years, let us show you why NPS is the place to be.

ART COLLABORATION WITH LITTLE STONES - ROMSEY

To acknoweldge reconciliation week last week, we created an artpiece in collaboration with Little Stones ELC in Romsey and toher local schools. We've swapped these over, ours will be on display at thier centre and theirs at our office. The circles represent all of our learners and generations coming together and  the lines a representation of our commitment to reconciliation.

ANAPHALAXIS AND ALLERGY REMINDER

We would like to remind families that we have students at our school who are at risk of anaphylaxis to dairy, tree nuts, and eggs. While our school does not ban specific food items, we ask all families to help us maintain a safe environment by reinforcing an important message - we wash our hands and do no not share food. Even small amounts of certain foods can cause a serious allergic reaction for some children. We encourage families to speak with their children about only eating the food packed from home and not swapping or sharing snacks or lunches with others. We appreciate your support in helping us keep all students safe, included, and well at school.
