SIS Public Speaking
On Thursday 7th May a team of Junior, Intermediate and Senior students from Clyde North and Cranbourne attended the SIS Public Speaking Competition. This event brought together schools across the region to showcase the power of student voice through both prepared and impromptu speeches.
Students crafted and refined their prepared speeches, tackling topics that were personal, persuasive and thought provoking. In the impromptu round, students rose to the challenge of thinking on their feet, speaking with poise and purpose in response to surprise prompts with only five minutes to prepare. This required quick thinking, strong communication skills, and self-belief; all of which our students displayed with maturity beyond their years.
Each student demonstrated remarkable confidence, creativity and passion. A special shoutout to the Clyde North Junior team; Michelle Jayasuriya, Mineli Jayasuriya and Guralam Tiwana who were awarded Excellence Awards for high scores across both speeches.

Year 12 Business Management Excursion
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Yakult Factory in Dandenong
CLN Year 12 Business Management students pose with Yakult mascots at the
Dandenong factory — 13 May 2026
On the 13th of May, all Year 12 Business Management classes attended an excursion to the Yakult factory in Dandenong. It was an engaging and memorable experience that allowed us students to gain a deeper understanding of how a global business operates.
During the visit, we learned about how Yakult sources its supplies from local farmers, supporting local businesses while also working to minimise waste and contribute positively to the economy. The factory itself was highly impressive, with displays of Yakult products and packaging from around the world.
The staff warmly welcomed our school and provided valuable insight into the company's operations and ethical practices. We were able to observe the machinery involved in the manufacturing process, including bottle production, packaging, and distribution. We also learned about how Yakult products are exported to stores across Australia and New Zealand.
Overall, the excursion was both educational and enjoyable for the entire Year 12 cohort. It provided us with a real-world understanding of concepts studied in Business Management and offered valuable knowledge that can be applied beyond the classroom.

VCE Arts Excursion – TOP Arts 2026 at the NGV Ian Potter Centre
Our VCE Art Making & Exhibiting and Art Creative Practice students travelled into the city to visit the TOP Arts 2026 exhibition at the NGV Ian Potter Centre in Federation Square. The exhibition showcases an outstanding selection of Unit 3 & 4 student work from across Victoria, featuring final artworks and folios from students who achieved exceptionally high results in 2025.
The excursion gave students a valuable opportunity to experience the artworks in person, view the scale and detail of the finished pieces, and gain insight into the creative processes behind them through the exhibition folios. Students explored a wide range of mediums, themes and approaches to artmaking, while also seeing how successful students documented experimentation, refinement and development throughout their creative practice.
Many students commented on how inspiring it was to see the work firsthand rather than online or in textbooks. Students particularly enjoyed being able to closely examine the folios and sketchbooks, which helped them better understand the level of experimentation, annotation and critical thinking expected of high-achieving VCE art students.
One student shared that “seeing the folios in person made the expectations feel much clearer and more achievable.” Another reflected that “it was motivating to see how students our age developed such unique and personal ideas into professional-looking artworks.”
Following the TOP Arts exhibition, students also explored additional gallery spaces including works from the John Brown Collection and galleries around Flinders Lane. The day provided students with inspiration for their own studio processes and reinforced the value of the arts as a rigorous and rewarding academic subject.
A big thank you to all students for representing the College so positively throughout the excursion, and to families for their support in ensuring students were prepared for the day.
