Secondary 9/10
9/10A
Term 4 has been packed with adventure and learning! Our students enjoyed sailing, Scienceworks visits, Sports Day competitions, pumpkin carving, and a meaningful trip to the Cat Protection Society.
The Year 9/10 Showcase was a fantastic success, with students performing confidently for their proud parents. 9/10A students showed exceptional dedication throughout their preparation and performances.
In Discovery, we explored space science, learning about our solar system, Earth, Moon, and constellations. Students were fascinated by stargazing and understanding our place in the universe.
Just like in the real world, students learned about money through our Earn and Learn program. They earned special money for coming to school and making good choices. They learned to be responsible by paying bills, and if they made not-so-good choices, they had to pay fines - just like grown-ups do!

Hossein: My favourite experiences were learning to juggle in circus and I got wet at sailing.
Charli: I loved sailing. I asked the instructor to go faster!
Maggie: I like using the hula hoops, I can spin it around my neck.
Jeremy: The pumpkin was yum!
Humdan: I enjoyed painting the pumpkin.
Jensen: Sailing was the best excursion! It was fun in the boat with Jesse. We went slow.

As always it has been a huge term 4 here in 9/10. We’ve had weekly experience days, plenty of outings, our Earn and Learn Program up and running and of course, our hugely successful 9/10 Showcase evening. I’ll let the students tell you a little more about all of the amazing things they’ve been doing.
- Elise
In Term 4 we have been doing our Earn and Learn Program. Every day during Term 4 we got paid. I ended up with $175 that I can then spend at the school market. During Earn and Learn we were also learning about savings, different bank accounts and withdraw/deposit/transactions.
- Matthew
We took the public bus to Greensborough Plaza and the bus trip was relaxing. We then went to the food court and got lunch and my lunch was a Subway sandwich with a bottle of Coke. We also went to Kmart, and I liked seeing all the stuff from there because I like Kmart.
Frankie
The ACMI was a delightful place to go for an excursion. I was proud for catching the train instead of the bus. I was excited to finally buy KFC for myself.
- Jett
This semester all the year 9/10 students got to perform at the Showcase. We had so much fun performing our circus tricks. Also some of us including me got asked to perform a solo while our school band is trying to pack up all the speakers.
- Catarina
I really enjoyed going to the cat protection society. I saw some cute cats and there was a cute cat named Astro, he was super friendly. I got to play with a cat named Jerry but he was tired from playing with 9/10D.
- Chloe
The 9/10s went to Scienceworks and had fun getting lost. While there, we saw an Indigenous film about constellations. I had fun with my friends and went back to school.

The recent Showcase was an excellent night bringing together all the Year 9/ 10 families to share in singing, dancing and circus tricks.
Reflecting on a year filled with highlights like trips to the MCG, NGV, Albert Park Lake, and more is a fantastic way to celebrate achievements. Community outings, like visiting the Cat Protection Society and buying lunch at Greensborough Plaza, demonstrate how well-rounded the experiences have been.

Term 4 has been packed full of adventures and experiences. We had athletics day, where the boys competed in various events. They showed great sportsmanship and encouraged everyone. We also attended Scienceworks as an experience that connected to our Discovery learning. Again, they were taken by the sports activities, designing their own aliens and watching a story in the planetarium.
We designed and carved a class pumpkin and participated in Circus practice leading up to the inaugural 9/10 Showcase. 9/10E did an excellent job with their performances; it was such a fantastic event!
The boys are looked forward to spending their hard-earned money from the Earn and Learn unit on yummy treats and awesome activities for 9/10 market day, which marked the end of an amazing year.
9/10F
Term 4 has been an exciting and enriching period for Secondary 9/10 F. Our students fully immersed themselves in the Fractions and Financial learnings within mathematics. They logged their activities at school, earning or being billed sums of money, which helped them understand budgeting, making wise purchasing decisions, and distinguishing between needs and wants—a challenging task for any teenager!
In Discovery, we explored the stars, Earth, and space. We proudly compared the constellations of Indigenous Australia with Western astronomy, delving into the wonders of space. This learning was brought to life by our visit to Science works, where the planetarium showcased a living picture overlay of Indigenous star constellations.
Our weekly circus program was a hit, with students mastering the sock poi and appreciating its connection to Māori culture. Many of our students also shone in the All Stars program and Glee, showcasing their talents as proud performers. Well done, 9/10 F!
Sports Day was another highlight, where we celebrated the cooperation and effort of our students, earning many rewards for their hard work.
Throughout the term, we engaged in various learning experiences, including cooking in the Discovery Centre, a trip to Greensborough using public transport, pumpkin carving, a visit to the Cat Protection Society, and sailing!
We had some great activities to finish off the year, including the RMIT taste tester, a HOYTS movie day, a fun day at Watermarc, and Market Day. Our students will provide popcorn and a movie experience for paying customers, giving them a chance to use their earnings on other experiences around the 9/10 section.
What an exciting and engaging year, thankyou 9/10F!

- Pumpkin Carving: To celebrate Halloween, we got into the festive spirit by carving our very own class pumpkin. It was a fun and creative experience, and the spooky design we came up with was a hit!
- Scienceworks: Our trip to Scienceworks was nothing short of amazing! We visited the planetarium and watched an awe-inspiring show about constellations, learning how ancient Aboriginal cultures told stories through the stars. The hands-on exhibits in science, space, technology, and sports allowed us to explore new concepts in a fun and interactive way.
- RMIT STEM Day: We immersed ourselves in a hands-on learning experience as we explored everything from building rockets and experimenting with thermal imaging to learning about plumbing and coding robots. These activities sparked our curiosity and deepened our understanding of STEM.
It has been a remarkable term, brimming with learning, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. And the best part? There’s still more to come. We’re excited to finish the year with a bang and make the most of it.
