Student Wellbeing Surveys

Schools rely on data now more  than ever before!  Our College has gathered three surveys from students this year which focus on wellbeing and engagement. Questions have focused on topics relating to safety and belonging, peer relationships and relationships with staff.  These survey results provide a strong basis for our teachers and wellbeing staff to monitor levels of wellbeing and engagement and to set goals based on areas which students identify as concerns for them.  The surveys are de-identified so it is not possible to ascertain or provide individual results.  We can provide year level data which provides us with some valuable insights.  Below is some data which relates to feeling safe at school.  Research cited from AERO (Australian Educational Research Organisation) in this report, shows the strong connection between student wellbeing and academic performance.  This survey data is taken from an ACER survey which was completed at the commencement of Term 4 by most of our students in Years 5-11.  This data relates to feeling safe at school.

What is pleasing about the above survey results is that our students have responded mostly positively  to questions relating to safety at school.  Apart from the positive impact on learning, it also provides us with reassurance that our students (at this point in time of responding to this survey) feel that school is a safe place for them.  Often our parents are concerned about issues such as bullying.  There is always more work to be done to ensure that our students are safe and feel safe, this data supports that interventions to support our students are effective.  We will continue to work in this space to further improve the responses of our students.
