5/6 Term 4 Highlights

Our 5/6 students have had a fun and jam-packed Term 4. Here are some highlights of different activities and learning tasks from our students.

My Term 4 highlight was science because we got to make our own billy carts. Before we started making them we had to make a plan of what we would do. After that the men's shed helped us build our billy carts. When we had finished building them we could spray paint them. I spray painted flowers on mine and Evie did a lightning bolt on the back of hers. We were very happy with the end results and soon we will test our billy carts down the hill.

My Term 4 highlight was Rugby Gala day. It was so enjoyable because the other schools we played were so nice and fun to play against. Although we weren't the best team, I loved every bit of it and some new skills. My favourite part was the dance party during lunch time and the rugby relay.

This term in 5/6 we have been writing narratives from an animal's perspective. Here is my action paragraph in the perspective of a Staffordshire bull terrier: Bomb! Screams Milly with a petrifying screech her voice rings through my ears and sends terror through my body. My family then frantically runs down the stairs leaving everything behind. I’ve heard this word before, a word that makes everybody freeze and sprint as fast as lightning. Usually nothing happens, but this time was different. Kaboom!! In one flash of a moment I loose everything.

Our highlight of Term 4 was Italian day. On Italian day we had to dress up. I dressed up as a gondola driver and Matilda was a fashion designer. The first thing we did on Italian day was go onto the basketball court and do a costume parade. Then we went onto the top oval and played soccer. Next we did bocce near the church and played against our classmates.

In Term 4 for sport we had 2 badminton clinics with Ben. We had one clinic on Wednesday and one on Friday in the same week. We learnt how to serve badminton and played 'champion and  challenger' which was really fun. It taught us a lot of new things such as having to guess where the shuttlecock will land and to to flick your wrist when you hit it. We really enjoyed the clinic and learning something new.

One of my highlights for Term 4 is making stop motion film using clay. My partner for my film is Alfred. We have to have a subject for the stop motion film and my subject is the evolution of the Australian coin. I have really enjoyed this activity but also found it challenging as I have had to take 100's of photos to make my animation.
