Writing

As students embark on their poetry writing unit, they will explore a diverse range of poetic forms, from playful alphabet poems to vivid pieces that evoke the senses. With techniques like exaggeration, repetition, and rhyming at their fingertips, they'll unleash their creativity through engaging backward poems and more, discovering the beauty of expression along the way.

Reading

In the coming weeks, students will engage in small group discussions while reading a shared text, fostering a collaborative learning environment. They will enhance their reading fluency through partner reading, providing constructive feedback to one another, and completing various tasks aimed at deepening their comprehension of the class novel.

Maths

In the coming weeks, students will delve deeper into the four fundamental operations, reinforcing their understanding through hands-on problem-solving activities. They will also explore the creation of equivalent number expressions and apply the order of operations using spreadsheets to enhance their analytical skills.

Inquiry

Students will continue their exploration of contemporary economic and business issues and events. They will utilise economic and business reasoning to analyse problems and interpret the behaviours of various participants in the economy. Through this process, students will gain insight into how decisions impact their future and will develop critical thinking skills to evaluate their perspectives.

Wellbeing

This term, students will focus on the core principles of the Berry Street Education Model, which emphasizes a trauma-informed and strength-based approach to support their emotional and social development. By fostering resilience and self-regulation, this model equips students with essential skills for navigating challenges and enhances their academic and personal growth. Additionally, students will engage in real-life scenarios and themes relevant to their journey into adolescence, helping them develop critical thinking and coping strategies in a supportive environment.
