Year 6

Science

It’s been a big final term of Primary School already for our wonderful Year 6 cohort, especially with recent Science incursions run by the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) and our traditional ‘Teacher for a Day’ program. Students have been absolutely shining in these memory making experiences and, with so much more to come, we’re busy right up to the last day of school!

VSSEC QUOTES:

  • The rockets blew me away! Beau
  • We went to the moon. We tested our rocket design with different amounts of water and pressure. First, we did a one third water and 60PSI test, then we tried half water and 80PSI. Finally, we tried a fifth water and 100PSI - and it went really far! Nearly into the neighbour’s backyard! - Matthew, Brody, Harry E
  • The excited of the rocket launches sent me over the moon! - Keira
  • Designing our own rockets was really fun. Our cone was pointing to the side though, which made the rocket go backwards. We ended up taking the wings off, too - Luke, Beau
  • The wings were quite complicated to make the same. We wanted to replicate our good wing. It was a challenge! - Shaun
  • Building the rocket was really fun. It let us express our creative side in Science. Ours had spiky wings. - Isla
  • When we were designing the rockets, we could use our imaginative minds. We could design what wings we wanted, and what colours to use. I loved the launch because we got to test how much water and how much air to put in and that changes the way it flies. - Makayla
