CLASSROOM NEWS
LLLL: We have developed our code knowledge learning about the spelling and meaning of gn/kn words like gnaw, design, know and knob. We discovered ch makes the k sound in words like school, mechanic and orchestra.
READING: Students worked on comprehension questions linked to texts which included kn/gn words. They read ‘The Funny Gnome’. Questions were based on details in the story and required students to give their opinions with reasons to back up their ideas.
WRITING: We have learnt how to write and respond to questions using full sentences. Students have been improving their understanding of the purpose of exclamation marks used in writing. We have edited sentences for capital letters, full stops and exclamation marks.
MATHS: We have applied our 5s /10s skip counting skills to solve open ended problems involving money. Students counted by 10s from different starting points and used Numicon10s frames to support this concept. We have revised addition and subtraction operations understanding worded problems and sharing the different strategies we used to solve these questions.
INQUIRY: We looked at How Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are connected to their place/country?
