Advance and Sports for Life Excursion

On Tuesday 19th of November, the Middle Years Advance and Sports for Life classes set out on a trip to Ballarat to experience some different kinds of lifelong activities in the form of mini-golf and ten pin bowling as a celebration for completing the semester. First stop was Goldrush Mini Golf. Once playing groups were sorted out, play was underway. Competition was fierce between the playing groups across the two courses, with several students achieving a hole-in-one, including: Zac (2), and one each for Evalyn, Tom Grant, Josh, Tom Naylor, Lane, Tara, Meg, Harry, Seth, Emmett, Billy and Abi. Accusations were thrown around that some people (staff) were taking things a little too seriously; there was even chatter about bringing personal putters for the day!

Once play concluded, scores were calculated at the end of the round, with the following results:

Second stop was Lake Wendouree for lunch, as everyone made the most of the sunny weather on offer.

Third and final stop was the new Oz Ten Pin Bowling complex. After a few moments working out the best bowling style, it was on. Students and staff alike experimented with angles, speed and spin to knock down the pins. Mrs Fisher led the way, demonstrating great technique. Strikes were coming thick and fast, as students delighted in the new challenge. Those who mastered the strike were: 5 Kody (5), Mrs Fisher (5), Meg (3) and Mr Tatchell (3). The following people earned two a piece: Emma, Aris, Harry, Seth, Mr Severino, Tom N, Rylee, Nic, while Pippa, Rhianna, Zac, Jolie, Ben, Tristian, Tom G, Tom K, Emmett, Billy and Josh (a rare spinning strike) achieved one each.

Word on the bus on the way back to school was that everyone had a great time, making the most of the opportunity to experience some activities that they don’t undertake too often! Big thanks to Mrs Fisher, Mr Tatchell and Mr Severino for organising the excursion and supervising throughout!
