2025 Resource Lists

Students in Years 8-11 have received their courses for 2025. It is a significant undertaking to get to this point - from the publication of the handbook, through to course counselling and subject preferencing, and to Andrew Lewis spending hundreds of hours creating and staffing a timetable that maximises student preferences, a lot of staff have worked hard to get the best outcomes and choice for our students.

The full Wantirna College 2025 Campion Resource Lists will be published on Compass early next week for parents to start purchasing resources.

In the meantime, students undertaking VCE English, English as an Additional Language, and/or Literature in 2025 can now purchase the required book listed literary texts through the Campion Early VCE English resource list. Early purchase of set novels/texts will ensure that students receive their books before the end of term to complete the required reading over the school holidays.

To view the list log into Campion with this link Student Ordering - Campion Education and use Resource List Code: 7HRV

Orders must be made by Wednesday 20 November. Orders will be available for collection in the Senior Centre on Thursday 28 November from 12.40pm - 1.40pm.

Please remember to not re-order these products on your main resource list.

Year 8 Becoming Me

On Wed 20 November, we are running our annual gender-focused program with Year 8 students. Girl and boy groups will explore a range of issues and challenges they often face in this increasingly complex world. Pressures to conform to narrow gender stereotypes restricts personal development and impacts on students relationships. Girls will explore the importance of positive identity and positive body image, and how to engage more critically with social media. The boys program focuses on busting the myths about masculinity. Teachers are passionate about this content and have developed interactive and engaging workshops for the students.

Maestro 2025

Exciting news, next year all our Developmental Rubrics from Year 7-12 will be on a new and improved version of Maestro for teachers, students and parents to access. Whilst the VCE rubrics are structured slightly differently, the program allows teachers and students to mark the rubrics throughout a unit of learning based on ongoing assessment. We are continuing to work with the Maestro developers to improve the quality and nature of the dashboards and the Developmental Rubric displays . Here is a Sample of one of our VCE rubrics and how they will appear in Maestro in 2025. VCE students receive an 'S' result when they demonstrate all the skills up to the 'Satisfactory' level on the rubric, the stretch skills support our students to extend and challenge themselves in preparation for SAC's and Exams.

Parent Involvement

We always encourage parents to take an active interest and involvement in their child's learning. Research tells us that it makes a difference when parents get involved in the right way. The following tips are from reputable educational research organisations

CPEC - Curriculum and Policy Education Committee

It has been a productive year in learning and teaching and the parents on our CPEC committee have been along on the journey, listening to all the initiatives, changes and challenges we experienced. Members have been very helpful and played an important part in developing effective policy, giving feedback on new initiatives and ideas, and being across a broad scope of educational ideas and processes.

Big thanks to our CPEC parent committee members  Tani Coath, Juanita Kimpton, Prue Mattern, Elizabeth Beggs, Dhanu Raj and Bianca Delahoy, as well as staff member, Elise Roper, for their contribution thorough out the year. Special thanks to Prue Mattern who had her final meeting on Tuesday;  After 10 years she is moving one with the graduation of her daughter in Year 12. Great work Prue!

We are always keen for new members - the parents involved always speak highly of their experiences on the committee. Please contact MAR@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au for more details
