Connect Crew

Making a Difference Around Campus

Connect Crew has been busy observing and transforming areas around our school grounds that needed a little extra care. One of their first projects was the space outside our admin offices. When the Crew first arrived, they found an overgrown garden area in need of attention. With teamwork and determination, they cleared out the weeds, pruned back the plants, and carefully restored the space. By the end of the day, the garden bed's pebbles were visible once more, creating a fresh, inviting view for our staff and visitors. It’s a small change, but it has brightened up this area of our school.

Another important project for the Connect Crew was the renovation of an old seating area. The benches had become worn down, with wood that was starting to rot and seating that was no longer safe to use. The Crew got straight to work, carefully dismantling the old seating and planned out all the materials needed to build a new, sturdy bench area. They’ve since sanded, prepared, and are now in the middle of staining the new wood to ensure it lasts. Soon, the new seating area will be ready for everyone to enjoy—a lasting contribution that will serve our school for years to come.

A recent highlight for Connect Crew was seeing one of our students, Zoe, volunteer her time at Foodbank. With guidance from Connect facilitator Kate and teacher Jessie Dennison, Zoe had the opportunity to lend a hand to our local community. Her efforts were met with appreciation, and the experience was rewarding for all involved. The Connect Crew are now exploring other ways our Wantirna community can continue to support Foodbank, even during the school holidays.

The Connect Crew is making a real difference around our school, and we’re incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and the positive impact on our grounds and beyond.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Crew to make a difference.
