PSA Summer Season – Round 5 Recap

Round 5 of the summer season was against Guildford Grammar. The second regatta of the Rowing season was also held at Guilford. Congratulations to Basketball, Cricket, and Water Polo who broke through for their first wins of the season. Tennis and Volleyball continued on their winning ways and remain on top of their respective ladders as we reach the halfway point of the season.

  • 1st V Basketball – Trinity 84 def GGS 64
  • 1st XI Cricket – Trinity 8/259 def GGS 10/252
  • 1st VIII Rowing – 4th
  • 1st VIII Tennis – Trinity 23 def GGS 1
  • 1st VI Volleyball – Trinity 3 def GGS 0
  • 1st VII Water Polo – Trinity 15 def GGS 4

In other results, many of the teams played against other PSA schools due to the lack of teams that Guildford were able to produce. Well done to the 7A, 8A, and 9A tennis teams for all being victorious. Our Year 9 Basketball teams had a clean sweep of both Guildford and Scotch, while our 8A-D and 7A-D Basketball teams all had strong wins. Congratulations also to our 2nd XI Cricket team and our 3rd VII Water Polo team for having their first wins of the season.

PSA Summer Season – Round 6

Year 9 and 10 Exam Week – Sport Expectations

Students in Year 9 and 10 are expected to attend all training session in Week 7 during their exam week.

Year 10 students are also reminded that attendance is compulsory for the Saturday game against Wesley on Saturday, 23 of November even though they officially finish school the day before.

Year 11 Christian Service – Sport expectations

At the conclusion of their exams, the Year 11’s will be on Christian Service for four days. The expectations for attendance at training and games are the same as they were during their exam break. It is an expectation that all Year 11's will fulfil their college sporting obligations and attend each Saturday fixture for the whole term.

It will be compulsory for all students to play in the last two fixtures of the term against Aquinas (16/11) and Wesley (23/11). The last fixture is also the day of the Trinity Rowing Regatta. Exam, work, club sport, etc will not be valid reasons for being absent from a sport fixture. None of these fixtures will be a 1sts only fixture.

The fixtures and teams will be released on Seqta each week for students and parents to see. The full fixture for each weekend can also be seen on the Sports Fixture page on Seqta. The training schedule will still be the same each week and students are encouraged to attend training; however, it will not be compulsory. If students are playing in a Firsts team, then they are to make every effort to attend training. Students who have two training sessions a week are asked to attempt to attend at least one session.

Those students with one session are to try and attend, however we understand that this might not be possible. Rowing will have a separate training timetable. Communication from students to their managers and coaches throughout these three weeks is vital.

Trinity Rowathon

Fundraising Event

The annual Trinity Rowathon is the TCRC’s main fundraising event of the rowing season. Fundraising/Donations can now be paid to the TC Online Store: The 5 largest donations will be given the right to name one of the new sculls that the fundraising has been used to purchase. This extends to people outside the rowing community. Please see the attached FAQ’s for more info.

Trinity College is one of the rare schools that offers rowing as an activity for which no fees are charged by the College for participation. This fundraising is to keep us competitive with the other colleges with big budgets and who charge a fee to row.

The rowing equipment is available for use for all Trinity students in PE and at learn to row  sessions. The money raised from the Rowathon covers the cost of many important things associated with Trinity College Rowing, such as:

  • New Boats
  • New Oars
  • New Ergos
  • Gym equipment
  • New speedboats
  • Repairs/refurbishments to existing equipment

The Trinity Bridges regatta occurs next Saturday the 23rd on the river in front of the school. All PSA schools and some exhibition races with Olympians take place and watching from the Mattagarup bridge is our own unique grand stand. It coincides with the 2nd day of the 1st  Test at Optus and finishes as the Test  starts.

Everyone is welcome and it is a great opportunity for anyone with a boat to moor up along the last 500m of the race course to watch the events and have a cup of tea.

Thanks for all of your support.

Director of Rowing
