What a great success in so many ways!
It was an ideal day for a walkathon along the foreshore- not too hot, not too cold. The students were extremely well behaved and did a great job. When we completed the course we spent some fun time at Eastern Beach enjoying the playground equipment and free activity play with a variety of sports equipment.
I was extremely proud of the students at Rollins and received a number of very positive comments from the public- well done everyone.
We were lucky enough to raise more than $11,000 which is an amazing effort considering we also had a concert this year. Thank you so much to all our parent community who worked so hard to support this event. Everyone will be looking forward to the new grandstand next year.
The final day for Rollins students in 2023 is Wednesday 18th December. Students will be dismissed at 3:30pm. Teachers return to work on Tuesday 28th January 2025. Students in Grades 1,2,3,4,5,6 will return on Wednesday 29th January 2025. Prep students first full day at school will be Thursday 30th January. Reminder to Prep parents that individual interviews with your child’s teacher and the compulsory Prep intake testing will be held each Wednesday in February. Please refer to the calendar in your child’s Welcome Bag that they will receive on one of the transition sessions.
We work hard at Rollins to create a positive culture where students see themselves as part of a community at Rollins. School uniform helps develop this culture. Lately it seems that there are a few students who are not wearing the appropriate school uniform. Bike shorts and netball skirts are not part of our daily school uniform. Bike shorts can be worn on Athletic days or days of high physical activity like the Walkathon etc. Please no multi-coloured or “loud” socks. These are to be kept for weekend wear. Thanks for your support in this matter.
We have meet with the new boundary fence architects and are awaiting the draft plan. When this is approved the VSBA (Victorian School Building Authority) will tender for the project. The surveyor has been here this week, so things are beginning to move! Hopefully things will move quickly after the initial planning and tender process is complete.
We know parking around the school is difficult, but we ask that you do not park on the neighbour’s nature strips or park on the raised area between parking bays in Ward St.
There have also been several parents with younger students jumping the fence. Please note that the fence is about to be replaced and is very old. Sometimes there are pieces of loose wire that could injury the person jumping the fence. Much appreciated.
Have a great weekend everyone
Jenny
