Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Families,

As we reflect on the past month, we acknowledge that November has been a particularly emotional time for our entire school community. The news of Ron Jones' passing has deeply impacted us all. Ron was such a beloved member of our school family for over thirty years, and his loss is felt by each of us. We are currently working on meaningful ways to honour his legacy, including the creation of a student award in his name. Once we have finalised our plans, we will be sure to share them with you all. 💙

On a brighter note, we are excited to share some wonderful news about our school’s performance! We’ve just received the Department of Education's School Performance Report, and while we will discuss it in detail with the School Council this week, we wanted to give you a sneak peek. This report is based on various data points that measure both our learning and wellbeing outcomes, and we are thrilled to announce that our school has been rated in the "High" category overall —one of only three schools out of 40 similar schools to achieve this! 🌟 This means we are in the top 30% of high-achieving schools across the state, and this recognition is a true testament to the incredible dedication of our staff, students, and families. A heartfelt congratulations to all! 👏

A personal highlight for me this month was attending my first Christmas Community Night. What a joyful occasion it was, with families, staff, and students coming together to celebrate the season. It was so heartwarming to see everyone sharing in the festive spirit, and I want to send a big thank you to everyone who helped make this event so special. 🎄✨

As we approach the end of the term, we are also gearing up for the exciting transition to new classes. We know that this time can bring a mix of excitement and nerves for some students, and we want to reassure you that we are here to support every child through this process. Our teachers are working closely with students to ensure they feel confident and well-prepared for their new learning environments. Up Day will take place on Tuesday, 10th December, and we hope that the class arrangements from that day will closely resemble the teachers and classes for 2025. 😊

Lastly, we want to remind you about some important upcoming dates. Our Final Assembly will be on Friday, December 13th at 2:45pm. This will be a special time to celebrate the incredible leadership of our current Student Leadership Team and welcome the new leaders for 2025. We’ll also take a moment to say farewell to some staff and students. Following this, we have the Year 6 Graduation on Tuesday, December 17th and Carols by Daylight on Thursday, December 19th—the final day of school. We hope to see many of you there to share in these special events. 🎓🎶

Thank you so much for your continued support and partnership. We are excited about the final weeks of this school year and look forward to celebrating together!

Warm regards,

Stephania Johnson-Turner
