Market Day Tuesday 2nd September 2025

Market Day: Pre-Ordering System and Brentwood Bucks

To help our stall holders anticipate the level of demand and interest for their product and/or service, we ask that you engage with using our pre-ordering system to help make sure that there is enough of the goods/services you are looking to purchase on Brentwood’s Market Day 2025.

Pre-ordering System

The way the pre-ordering system will work is as follows:

  1. To begin, please click on the attached link:
  2. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SD8RH6V
  3. Then enter the following information: provide your Compass ID and name
  4. Pre-order from up to three stalls of choice
  5. For each stall you are requesting to purchase from, you will need to know the stall number, the products you wish to buy from the stall and the dollar value of your total order and
  6. After this, please submit your response. This will be directed to the stall holders by staff.

The pre-ordering helps the stall holders be prepared; however, they will also have excess goods/services available as well for those who are wanting to make decisions on the day, too!

This is a good way to make sure you secure the items or activities you are highly interested in though. You will not need to pay for these until Market Day, you will use your pre-purchased Brentwood Bucks to finalise your order and purchase on Market Day on Tuesday 2nd of September.

Pre-ordering is OPEN NOW and will close at the end on Saturday 23rd August.

Brentwood Bucks

Brentwood Bucks can be bought from the front office on: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during Recess and Lunch time (only). You can use cash or EFTPOS to purchase your Brentwood Bucks, strictly during these times.

The purchase of Brentwood Bucks will commence at the start of Week 4 on Monday 11th August.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you everyone for your support of what we are anticipating will be a great day!

Ono Senior High School Brentwood Visit

On Friday 25th of July, 18 students and four teachers from our Japanese Sister School, Ono Senior High School, arrived at Brentwood for a 12 day visit. A welcome ceremony was held in the new library to introduce the Ono students to their host families and hear speeches from representatives from both schools.

Through this homestay opportunity, students have enjoyed visits to the MCG and Puffing Billy, participated in fun school activities, including making ANZAC biscuits, painting native flowers, playing AFL and practising their English language skills. The Ono boys even got to play a friendly match of soccer against the BPL boys, which was very exciting.

On Monday 4th August, all the Ono students, teachers, host families and friends gathered in the TLC for the Sayonara party. Games, quizzes and even a dance performance were prepared by the Ono students for our entertainment. Fun was had by all.

Homestay families have enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and sharing the Australian way of life with their exchange students.

Here is what the host families had to say:

“The highlight was just generally being surrounded by all the Japanese students, they're all so nice and we learnt a lot from each other. I definitely enjoyed the excursions as we were able to see typical Australian places from a foreign perspective.” Ethan- Year 9

“It's lots of fun and a very memorable experience. You create friendships with many people and help teach/immerse the exchange students in Australian culture. Makes your normal life of going to school and other things more fun.” Milki- Year 10

“We were fortunate to have been part of this fantastic opportunity. It has enriched our lives immensely.” The Daniell Family

This Sister school relationship is celebrating its 23rd year this year and we look forward to giving Brentwood students the opportunity to visit Ono Senior High School in 2026!

Model UN Conference

Our Year 11 Japanese language students took part in the Model UN Conference in North Melbourne which is organised annually by the UNAA Victoria.

This year the Model UN Conference takes place over 11 days in five different languages and provides students in Year 11 and 12 the opportunity to practise their language skills in a live, realistic setting with a full-day immersive experience in international relations and diplomacy.

Leading up the event, our class was assigned 3 countries and students prepared collaboratively their country’s position statement on Hearing Our Voice: Recognizing the Rights of Indigenous People. They represented their country on the day, reading out Japan’s, India’s and Chile’s position statement and debating and voting on possible changes to the UN Draft resolution on the issue, thus further developing their language, negotiation and public skills together with other Victorian language students from both private and public schools.

All students did an amazing job preparing and taking part in this event. I’m very proud of them.

AGTV Regional Poetry Competition 2025

On Thursday 7 August, five Brentwood Secondary College students took part in the AGTV Regional Poetry Final at Box Hill High School. Three Year 8 students and two Year 7 students performed their chosen poems alongside German learners from other schools in the region.

The event gave students the chance to practise their German in a real-world setting and to hear how the language is expressed by others. It was also an opportunity to gain insight into German literary traditions and the role of poetry in conveying ideas and emotions.

Two of our Year 8 students achieved first and second place in the Year 8 Deutsch als Fremdsprache (German as a Foreign Language) category, and one of our Year 7 students came second in the Year 7 DaF competition. These students have been invited to perform at the State Final later this year.

We thank all five students for their efforts and for representing the school in this event.

WORLD CHALLENGE EXHIBITION IN CAMBODIA 2026

Attention Brentwood Year 8-10 students and families!

Following recent media coverage about tensions along the Cambodia–Thailand border, we want to provide some clarity and reassurance. A ceasefire agreement is now in place, and while the Australian Government travel advice against travel to the immediate border region, travel within the rest of Cambodia remains safe and unaffected. Importantly, the border area is well away from the locations visited by our teams.

World Challenge currently has several Australian school groups travelling in Cambodia, all of whom are safe and continuing their journeys as planned.

With this in mind, applications for the Cambodia Expedition have now RE-OPENED until August 13th! This is your final opportunity to secure a spot on what promises to be a life-changing experience. Trek through lush jungles to discover hidden waterfalls, help care for rescued elephants and sun bears, explore the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, wander through vibrant markets, eat incredible food, and immerse yourself in the rich and inspiring culture of Cambodia.

Worried about commitment? There is a 2-week cooling off period – your deposit is fully refundable if you change your mind.

Safety First

Your child’s safety is our top priority. World Challenge will always closely monitor every situation with their local team and private security advisors. Should any risk remain closer to departure in September 2026, World Challenge may:

  • Adjust the itinerary to avoid affected areas
  • Divert the trip to a comparable destination at no additional cost
  • Provide a full refund if cancellation is necessary due to safety concerns

Congratulations to all students who have already signed up! This is going to be an incredible experience that will change your life!

Camps at Brentwood

Camps play a vital role in your child’s social and emotional development. At Brentwood, we highly value these experiences and offer a wide range of camps and events across multiple year levels, including:

  • Year 7 – Phillip Island
  • Year 8 – Creswick
  • Year 9 – Tasmania & City Experience
  • Year 11 – Central Australia Tour
  • Performing Arts Camps
  • Music Camps
  • Language Camps and Tours
  • Various Overseas Camps and Experiences
  • Leadership Camps
  • Duke of Edinburgh Camps

Planning and Organisation

Our dedicated teaching staff invest significant time and effort into planning camps, with some taking over a year to organise. To ensure these experiences are accessible and affordable, we need to confirm student numbers early in the process.

Many camps begin with an Expression of Interest (EOI) event on Compass. It is important for parents and carers to register their child’s interest in the camp at this stage, as this provides us with an estimate of attendance and costs.

For some camps there are limited places available. If the number of interested students exceeds capacity, attendees are selected through a random ballot. Students not selected are placed on a waiting list and may be offered a spot if others withdraw.

Consent and payments for camps must be made before the due date specified on the event. The school cannot accept any late payments or consent for camps. If your child wishes to withdraw from the camp at any stage, the school must be notified as soon as possible.

Students withdrawing from camps and excursions are not automatically entitled to a refund. Where NO COST is incurred by the school, a full refund will be payable to the student when:

  • The student's place is filled by another student
  • The Principal deems the student’s withdrawal was unavoidable eg. Illness. Proof of reason for withdrawal may be requested in such circumstances.

Where some cost has been incurred by the school, a partial refund will be payable to the student withdrawing when:

  • The Principal deems the student’s withdrawal was unavoidable. In such cases the refund will be the full amount paid by the student, less expenses incurred by the school as a result of the withdrawal.

Where FULL COST has been incurred by the school no refund will be payable to the student withdrawing when the Principal deems the withdrawal was avoidable.  Refer College Refund Policy.

If you have any questions about camps, please contact the school or the camp organiser.

Thank you for your support, we are extremely lucky to be able to offer so many camps at Brentwood.

We would like to thank you for your continued support with the Personal Mobile Devices Policy. We have noticed students trying to utilise their phones as a payment method at the canteen and ask that families look to make other arrangements.

Mobile phones are not to be used at the canteen as they are not allowed to be in use between the school hours of 8.45am and 3.05pm.

Students can make payment via an EFTPOS card or cash.
