Team Pop-Up Event
At recess this term, the Green Space came alive with the Careers Team Pop-Up Event! Students had the chance to explore all the exciting opportunities and support available from our Careers Team.
The event showcased everything the team can offer – from tips on how to get a job, to information about TAFE and university courses, apprenticeships, and pathways for the future. Students were encouraged to ask questions, collect resources, and find out more about the options that can shape their next steps.
To make things even more engaging, there were plenty of giveaways and fun competitions on the day. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy as students enjoyed the activities while learning about the many ways the Careers Team can support their journey.
A big thank you to everyone who stopped by – and remember, the Careers Team is always here to help you plan for your future. Stop by Jacaranda before, after school, recess or lunchtime.
Year 12 VTAC Meetings – Planning for the Future
This term, our Careers Team has been busy meeting with Year 12 students to support them as they begin planning their pathways beyond school. These VTAC meetings have been an important opportunity for students to add and refine their preferences for further study in 2026, and it has been wonderful to connect with them during this important stage of their journey.
While many students have already made progress, a number still need to complete their preferences, as well as their early entry applications, SEAS, and scholarship submissions. A reminder that key closing dates are coming up soon—don’t leave it too late! Make sure you get your applications in on time.
In addition to university and TAFE pathways, meetings were also held with students considering apprenticeships, employment, or alternative options beyond Year 12. No matter the pathway, the Careers Team is here to provide support and guidance.
If you still require assistance with your applications or are unsure about your next steps, please see the Careers Team as soon as possible.
Empowering Future Leaders: ABCN Events Help Students Master Career and Financial Skills
This term, students participated in two transformative events hosted by the Australian Business Community Network (ABCN) at the OPTUS Towers in Melbourne's CBD: Interview 2 Impress and Money Mastery. Both events aimed to equip students with essential skills for their futures.
The Interview 2 Impress workshop focused on building students’ confidence and practical interview skills. With guidance from mentors, students engaged in mock interviews, learned communication and presentation skills, and discussed the benefits of professional networking. They left with enhanced interview skills and a renewed sense of confidence for post-school employment.
The Money Mastery session, designed for Year 10 and 11 students, introduced essential financial literacy skills required to thrive in today’s complex, ever-evolving financial landscape. The session was a perfect blend of theory and practice, with interactive discussions and engaging hands-on activities designed to help students develop a strong foundation in managing money. Leaving them with a sense of empowerment in their ability to make informed financial decisions.
Both events took place at the stunning OPTUS Towers, offering students the chance to learn against the backdrop of Melbourne’s iconic skyline. With mentorship from OPTUS and KPMG business professionals, students walked away with invaluable knowledge and a clear sense of possibility for their futures.
These events continue to shape the next generation of career-ready and financially savvy leaders.

In August, 16 students from the Year 11 Leadership group attended an ABCN event, Interview 2 Impress program Optus.
Below is a wonderful email from the Program Manager, Vanessa:
It was a different (and delightful) experience doing an Interview 2 Impress with an all female cohort. They were so keen to lean into the experience and absorb as much as they could - I even saw a few writing down mentors interview tips / feedback on their worksheets. They were a very hard working group and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. The mentors were super impressed too!
The following are summarised student response results demonstrating the percentage improvement from the program's start to the end. (Note: the rating scale is a 1 to 7 measure with 1 being the lowest and 7 being the highest. i.e., 5 to 7 is ‘agree’ to ‘strongly agree’.) These results demonstrate that the students gained a lot from the program and their time with their mentors.
