Voluntary Contributions

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to those who have already made their voluntary contributions. Your generous support is crucial in enabling our school to offer high-quality teaching and learning programs and essential resources.

I also wish to remind you that the School Saver Bonus is designated for families to use on uniforms, camps, excursions, and similar expenses. It does not contribute to the school's ability to provide the aforementioned programs and resources.

Thank you once again for your continued support and commitment to our school community.

Library Open during Lunchtime

We are excited to announce that our school library is now open during the second half of lunch every day. This initiative allows students to engage in more passive play activities while building connections with their peers.

We understand that some students may find the 50 minutes outside at lunchtime overwhelming. This initiative is an important addition to our student wellbeing program, particularly supporting our neurodivergent students. While it is a great option for everyone, it is especially necessary for some. We believe this new option will enhance the lunchtime experience for all our students.

Creating Optimal Learning Environments for Student Success

Our school is committed to the learning and social/emotional needs of every student. focus on creating learning-focused environments to reduce sensory overstimulation and decrease student cognitive load. To achieve this, I have arranged our classrooms to minimise distractions behind the area where teaching instruction is provided.

Additionally, our staff has commenced a focus on the Department for Education's new 'Positive Classroom Management Strategies' (click the link to read more). This term we have a specific focus on 'Classroom Behaviour Expectations and Rules' and 'Classroom Procedures and Routines.'

Classroom Behaviour Expectations and Rules

When students know exactly what behaviour is expected of them, they are more likely to demonstrate these behaviours in the classroom. Teachers establish clear, consistent guidelines for conduct, which helps create a structured and positive learning environment. This proactive approach reduces disruptions and promotes a culture of respect and responsibility.

Classroom Procedures and Routines

Procedures are the process of how things are done. When taught to fluency, they help students to form routines to efficiently and smoothly accomplish tasks. Teachers should implement these procedures because they minimise confusion and maximise instructional time. Additionally, well-established routines create a sense of security and predictability for students, enhancing their ability to focus on learning.

These practices will strongly support our teaching, learning, and wellbeing programmes and improve student outcomes. This initiative particularly benefits our neurodivergent students but is certainly beneficial to all of them.
