This year, Year 9 students are exploring a range of new electives. Whether you're a budding linguist, a fitness enthusiast, or a future tradesperson, there's something for everyone! Here’s a quick look at the new electives available French, Active Lifestyles, Textiles, Feeding myself and woodwork.

In addition to these exciting electives, Year 9 students have been engaging with a variety of core subjects that will build their knowledge and skills for the future.

What’s Been Happening in Classes:

  • Health: Students have been exploring the topic of Healthy Relationships, discussing key aspects of respect, communication, and emotional well-being.

  • Careers: Year 9s have been learning about current job market trends and the industries that are looking for future employees. It’s a fantastic way for students to start thinking about their career pathways and how to access the job markets of the future.

  • Maths: In Index Laws, Year 9 students are developing their understanding of mathematical concepts that will serve as the foundation for more advanced learning.

  • Humanities: The Year 9 Humanities classes have begun to look at Colonial Australia, studying the history and impact of early European settlement in our country.

  • PE: Students are having a great time playing Minor Games, developing their teamwork, fitness, and communication skills in a fun and engaging way.

Over the past two weeks, Year 9 students have been actively engaging with the school values of Respect, Determination, and Excellence through a variety of lessons and activities. They’ve shown Respect by collaborating in group discussions, listening attentively to peers, and practicing kindness in their interactions.

In terms of Determination, students have tackled challenging tasks, whether in academic projects or extracurricular activities, pushing through difficulties and staying focused on their goals.

Lastly, they have strived for Excellence by taking pride in their work, aiming to produce their best results, and reflecting on ways to continually improve. These values have not only shaped their academic approach but also contributed to their personal growth as they develop as respectful, resilient, and motivated individuals.

We’re excited for the journey ahead, and we look forward to seeing each student grow in their knowledge, skills, and personal development. Here’s to a fantastic year in the Year 9 space!
