Pathways & Careers Report
Brennan Deppeler
In 2025 I am pleased to introduce myself as the Pathways Leader, joining Kara Rysava our Careers Practitioner and Hayley Palmer our VET/VASS Coordinator.
Last week saw the commencement of all 2025 1st & 2nd Year VET programs.
This year we have a total of 50 Woodmans Hill students undertaking VET in 2025, our largest intake yet!
VET program enrolments range from one year program tasters in Hair & Beauty, Renewable Energy and Bakery & Cookery, all the way up to two year programs in Electrotechnology, Animal Care, Building & Construction and Screen & Media.
There are a number of Year 10 students who have elected to undertake a VET program as an additional educational exercise, having these students complete a one year program in Year 10 will set them up beautifully in Year 11 & 12 to undertake a two year VET program.
The Pathways & Careers team has seen an increase in Work Experience enquiries as our Year 10 students head towards this in Term 2. Year 10 students will undertake work in their timetabled Careers/Humanities classes to prepare them for Work Experience.
In 2025 Grampians Public Health (formerly Ballarat Health Services) has opened up their Work Experience program, the first time since 2019/2020. The new and improved Work Experience program comes with a selection criteria and interview sessions that students must undertake in order to be offered placement, we are very proud to announce we have had two successful applicants who look forward to their upcoming Grampians Public Health Work Experience placement, this is a great achievement and will bring many opportunities for education and skill development for these students.
As always we are busy working with all our Year Levels in different areas, from Morrisby at Year 9, Career Action Plans across all year levels, travel training, STEM programs, Women in Trades programs and many more.
Our door is always open to students who wish to discuss anything Pathways & Careers related, come by and say hello!
