What's on in our Science Classrooms!

As it is first term, our scientists are getting stuck straight into learning about some cool concepts in their classrooms!

Year 7 – Introduction to the laboratory and safety

Year 8 – Atomic Theory

Year 9 – How waves work

Year 10 – Atoms, ions and isotopes

This week in our Investigating STEM elective, our Year 9 students have been working through the engineering design process to research, design and build their first prototype bridges this week. They have been tasked to span a 30cm gap between tables with a maximum of 30 icy pole sticks, 4 straws and some twine. Each pair will be testing the weights their prototype bridges can hold in the coming weeks, along with investigating their failure points, which will inform a final bridge build later in the term.
