The Woodmans Hill Secondary College Maths team is excited to kick off another great year of learning! We’re thrilled to welcome a new member to our team: Mr. Chris Dunn, an experienced teacher joining us from Melbourne. We look forward to him sharing his wealth of expertise with our staff and students.

Our classes are off to a strong start. Year 7 students are building a solid foundation in the basics of mathematics, setting the stage for a successful year. Year 8 has dived into working with integers (positive and negative numbers), while Year 9 is tackling index laws. Our Year 10 students have started exploring statistics, and the Year 10 MV class is focused on measurement.

Here’s to a fantastic year of learning and growth in 2025!

We are also going to have a Maths Puzzle in every newsletter. Students if you answer it correctly you go in the draw to win a prize!

Maths Puzzle: The Mystery of the Missing Number

A teacher writes the numbers 1 to 50 on the board. Then, without anyone noticing, she erases one number. When the remaining numbers are added together, the total is 1,249

Challenge: Can you figure out which number she erased?

To enter, write the answer to the question on a piece of paper with your name and class group on it, and hand it into the Maths Office (in the back of the Library). Good luck.
