Grade 2/3

History
We are learning about the First Nations People and their connection to country. We have been learning how important the environment is to their survival and how many plants provide daily needs: food, shelter and medicines.
We have also been learning about how history and culture have been passed down through stories, dances, songs and artwork.
Maths
We have been learning about unit fractions. Identifying halves, quarters, fifths and tenths. We are also revising our addition strategies, partitioning numbers, bridging 10 and counting on. It is important to practice counting forwards and backwards by 2, 3, 5 and 10 from any number at home daily to increase number fluency.
Literacy
We have been learning the first 4 spellings of the sound /ae/. Ask your children what "wailing" means!
Story Dogs and Library time.
We are super excited to have commenced our Story Dog Program. It is a great way for our emergent readers to gain confidence and fluency in a calm and relaxed environment.
Thanks Georgia for bringing Frankie into our class.
We have all been enjoying time in our newly refurbished library - Thank you Kay for the work you have put into making this space so warm and welcoming for our students.
Thanks to all the family members that supported our open night last week. It was great to meet so many of you. The students were very excited to share their learning and book work with you.
