SUSTAINABILITY

We have started our composting project at BPS! We are aiming to reduce waste, create nutrient-rich soil for our garden, and help the environment.

Composting is a great way to recycle food scraps like fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, eggshells, leaves and organic matter and all of our learning spaces now have a compost bucket for our compost friendly waste.

Composting is a natural process where tiny microbes, worms, and insects help decompose these organic scraps and break them down into rich, dark soil which is full of nutrients that can help plants grow. It's like turning waste into healthy food for your garden!

We hope by turning these materials into compost, we can keep them out of the landfill, reduce greenhouse gases, and improve the health of our soil in our veggie gardens, which helps our plants grow stronger and healthier.

We encourage all families to start composting at home too, because together, we can make a positive impact on the planet and teach our kids how small steps can make big differences in the world around us.
