Principal's Report
Jacqueline Lee for Tim Furphy, Principal
We are missing Mr Furphy here at Newham PS but are so glad he can take some weeks of leave to spend time with his family as they welcome baby Mia home. Congratulations to the Furphy family on her safe arrival. We really appreciated the photos sent out on Compass!
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Welcome BBQ last Friday! Thanks for all who attended and special thanks for help with the BBQ and the second-hand uniform stand.
Please continue to say hi at the school gate and in classrooms. They are open from 8.45am and after school until 3.40pm. We love to have a casual chat.
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences
We have our more formal chance to meet together next Monday and Tuesday. The conferences are an opportunity to discuss strengths and possible worries or questions, from the student's, parents' and teacher's point of view. They're for Grades 1-6. No need for Foundation students and parents, as they already have the Prep assessments on Wednesdays with Sharny. The timeslots are open for booking on Compass until Sunday night. Please let us know if you need any technical help. We're looking forward to meeting with you all.
2-3-4-5-6 Camp
Hopefully you have all received the exciting news about our school camp for this year! It is going to be an incredible adventure around Phillip Island. Camp will take place at the start of Term 2 from Tuesday the 22nd to Thursday the 24th of April. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me or your child's classroom teacher regarding your child's attendance. We want to make sure all the students can go and have an amazing time.
Welcome Di Moore
We are so lucky to have Di now working in the office as our Business Manager every Tuesday and Friday. We will miss Brooke, but wish her very well as she has found a job closer to home. Di knows our school really well and has a wealth of experience. We are so happy to welcome her as a solid member of the NPS Team.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN will be conducted in weeks 7 and 8 here at school for Grades 3 and 5. An information flyer was sent out on Compass with an overview for parents. If you have concerns about your child completing the NAPLAN tests please speak to myself or your child's teacher.
