When students demonstrate expected behaviours from our Positive Behaviour Matrix, they are given feedback on their behaviour in the form of tokens.

Tokens allow staff members to provide specific contingent attention through specific positive feedback when students demonstrate the expected behaviour, such as being inclusive or putting equipment away (on our matrix).

Students who receive tokens in the classroom have these added to a points tally (Class Dojo) that the teacher monitors. They also receive a token for their house (Lok Lok or Kanyul) that are tallied throughout the year.

Students can also receive tokens in the playground at recess and lunch, in the form of a stamp that is applied by the yard duty staff member. Thanks to Clay and Grace for demonstrating!

Receiving these tokens reinforces the expectations on our Positive Behaviour Matrix. Teachers also set up classroom rewards in their classrooms with selected rewards for students.

“The purpose of providing students with positive feedback after behaviour is to make it more likely that they’ll do it again.” – Scott, Hirn & Cooper, 2017.
