150th Anniversary Event- Save the date!

150th merchandise

We're excited to announce that there will be some 150th merchandise available to purchase at our 150th Community Celebration on Saturday May 3rd (11am-2pm). Prices are yet to be determined. 

Items include mugs, pens and magnets (see the samples below or in our 150th display case in the office foyer).

Throughout this year we will be displaying artefacts from Ceres Primary School's history in a beautiful glass cabinet that has been very kindly loaned to us by the Ceres Historical Society. Artefacts have been loaned to us also by the Historical Society and former employee Kerrie Pickering. 

These artefacts will be on display all year with the types of artefacts rotating each term.

We are so grateful to our wonderful community members for entrusting us with these items and for their incredible support of our school.

Also, an item that will feature in our foyer all year is our 150th time capsule kindly made and donated to us by the Mount Duneed Men's Shed. It has been beautifully made and inscribed with a message for our 150th anniversary.

This term's artefacts include;

• Ink wells found in a local Ceres backyard at the house where a former principal resided, and where Ceres students watched the moon landing in the front lounge room
• Photo of Ceres PS's longest serving principal, Duncan Robertson 1949-1967 and again 1968-69.
• 150+ year old minutes of some very early meetings detailing the proposal of building our school
• A photo of our very first Principal, Mr John Hartshorn, 1875-1894 

What's planned throughout 2025?

This year there will be many opportunities for our community to commemorate our 150th.

While our actual opening date was July 5th, we will host not only our big community event as described above, but also...

•  an open morning in the last week of Term 2 where parents will be welcomed to the classrooms to complete activities to do with the number 150
• classes will complete Inquiry investigations into a historical topic in Term 2
• a whole school drone photo will be taken at some stage this year
• a fun activity will be sought for all students in either late Term 3 or in Term 4
• new murals will be painted to symbolise community and include the participation of all students of the 150th year
• and others so stay tuned. An exciting year awaits!
