The Commissioning service was a wonderful time of dedicating the school and its staff to the Lord. We are so blessed to have such a well functioning board who facilitated the service and our band of staff who went above and beyond to make it happen! Thanks to all who attended. One of the special moments was the 'passing of the bell' between Narelle and I. This was symbolic, as the bell was the school’s original bell and through the work of some Ranges TEC staff a new handle was crafted. Gerry Beimers followed it up with a good polish and it now has a special spot in my office. Make sure you look out for the bell when you come to my office.
As part of our connection to Christian Education National (CEN) I have been invited to some Principal’s meetings over the past weeks, which are a great way to connect with other leaders of Christian Schools and to also share in ideas and get some advice on challenges. I appreciate the support in these groups and value the connection that we can share.
Next week, I will be offsite, attending the CEN Executive’s Conference followed by the CEN AGM and National Conference. Gerry Beimers will be joining me at the Executive’s Conference and Rob Lichtendonk and Tim Van der Veen will be joining us for the AGM and National Conference. It will be great to connect with the broader CEN community.
It’s been a great pleasure to meet with potential new students for MECS in enrolment interviews where I get to share the distinctive nature of MECS with parents and students and determine their willingness to partner with us as a school. Yes, interviews are already underway for 2025, so if you have some friends or family that are keen to partner with MECS, you might like to give them a prompt!
Next week, NAPLAN testing gets underway across the state. MECS works hard to ensure that all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 have the opportunity to participate in this testing. A test of this nature of course is not the whole picture of how a child is developing and progressing, it is only one window into their life at school and we are so glad that at MECS we get to uncover more than a NAPLAN result.
Cheers, Michelle
