Exploring Creativity and Teamwork: Theatre Sports Excursion to Waverley Christian College, Narre Warren

Greetings, Mount Evelyn Christian School community.

We are thrilled to share the exciting news of a recent Theatre Sports excursion that our select students from Years 7 to 10 had the privilege of participating in at Waverley Christian College, Narre Warren. This engaging event saw our students collaborating with peers from other schools within the CSEN network, fostering a spirit of unity and shared creativity.

The primary focus of the excursion was to immerse our students in the world of Theatre Sports, a form of improvisational performance that not only entertains but also cultivates essential life skills such as teamwork, quick thinking, and adaptability. The day was filled with laughter, energy, and the unmistakable joy that comes from collaborative creativity.

Throughout the excursion, our students had the opportunity to learn and practice various Theatre Sports games under the guidance of former MECS drama teacher, Allen Dickson. These games serve as a foundation for the upcoming competition in Term 2, where our students will showcase their newfound skills and compete with passion and enthusiasm in groups against other schools.

One of the beautiful aspects highlighted during the day was the reflection of God's creation in the creativity of our improvising students. As they engaged in spontaneous scenes and comedic sketches, the students demonstrated how their unique talents are a reflection of the ultimate Creator. This excursion provided a platform for our students to appreciate and celebrate the diversity of God's gifts manifested through their creativity.

The collaborative nature of Theatre Sports was a shining example of teamwork, where students learned to rely on each other, trust their instincts, and contribute to a shared goal. It was heartening to witness our students building connections not only within our school but also across the broader CSEN network, creating lasting friendships and memories.

As we look forward to the upcoming Theatre Sports competition in Term 2, we encourage the entire Mount Evelyn Christian School community to support and cheer for our talented students. Their journey in Theatre Sports not only enriches their lives with valuable skills but also serves as a testament to the incredible creativity that reflects God's image within each one of them.
