FETE - Stall Thankyous 2

Book Stall Thank Yous

The bookstall is a HUGE fete endeavor and success relies entirely on our Queen of the Books, Joy (Gabe’s Grandma) THANK YOU JOY, we would be lost without you.  Day in, day out in the lead up to fete day, Joy is box collecting, book sorting, stacking, lifting and carrying and getting rid of the junk. She’s also good for a chat and a laugh and makes everything, well, joyful!!

Special thanks also this year to Mark Rubbo (Adesh’s Grandad), of Readings’ fame and a judge for The Age Book of the Year 2024.  Readings donated lots of books and Mark also pulled a shift serving our customers and adding a bit of book-celebrity sparkle to our staff picks book table.

And to the rest of our bookworms, enormous thanks for all of your hard work, especially on Saturday afternoon when there was a point where it was looking like we may never get there. Special mention to Don Townsend who counted the book donations - 3,174 this year!!

Thanks to all the Book Worms: Kate Horton,Lisa Monotti, Pierre Roelofs, Hazell Opoz, Annabel Davies, Dan Cass, Amy from Foundation, Shaila Figueiredo, Liz Plant, Deniz Yakka, John Doyle, Ronan Carr, Ruth Williams, Kales and Murali, Bec Slater, Ian Davidoff, Lizzie Cummings, Michelle Callow, Pip Morrison, Raaf Ishak, Amelia (5/6K), Pip (1/2T) and Juliet (1/2T)…and also thanks to Kim from the library for lending us her library shelves and Tony from The Book Grocer for collecting the leftovers. My huge apologies if I have accidentally missed anyone out.

Food Co ordination

There are many things that make the Great Lee Street fete stand out from its peers, but one of the best is the way we do food!

Personally, I would like to thank each of the Food Stall Leads, the dream team food hygiene legends Caroline McGrath and Stephen Del Monaco, and fearless leader Catherine Doggett, for all the efforts in the weeks leading up to the big day, in addition to the day (weekend) itself - fielding questions, reaching out to suppliers, coordinating, prepping food, and on it goes.  I've made some great friends and had some great laughs over the past five weeks - but no offence, please no one talk of spreadsheets and product prices for the rest of the year!  Pip

We are 100% run on the smell of an oily rag and elbow grease, and as a collective we couldn't have been as successful on the day without the magnificent support of the following crews:

  • Sustainability & Washing Station, run by Kate Silvagni
  • Logistics team - jointly run by Alice Knowles & Annabel Barker
  • Set up and pack-down crews
  • Shannon the plumber and Jeremy the electrician
  • Catherine Doggett, tireless coordinator and gentle cajoler

Crepe Stall

Hamilton Moore would like to thank the following volunteers: (beautiful wife) Prim, Marcus and Billy (teacher and absolute legend).  Fat Spatula was a major sponsor, with Senserick and Coles also making generous donations.

Balkan Bites

We would like to thank the following volunteers: Violeta (former CNPS parent and extraordinary cabbage chopper), Indira & Rami Kulafi, Lev Latifoglu, Nick Perini, Ronan, Ana, Brent Walsh, Steve (former CNPS parent), Rowen, Lana (amazing auntie).  Special mention to the excellent customer service from Adem (5/6), Elira (3/4), Mia (3/4), Imran (1/2).

The great success of the Balkan Bites stall for the second time ever, could not have been achieved without support from donations and cost price giving from: Bakers Delight Carlton (delicious rolls), Deer Park Halal Meats (chevap), Bass Foods Brunswick (sauces) and Piedimontes (cabbage).

We received wonderful feedback about the stall and are so happy it was a great success, Gia and Bari (parents to Adem and Elira)

Curry

Lisa Needham would like to thank her wonderful volunteer team consisting of Michelle Cecchin, Sam Gant, Emma Donnelly, Dan Cass and Elena.

An enormous thank you to The Brandon and to Conrad Dudley-Batman, without whose generous contributions, the curry stall would not exist. Thank you also to Filamena Bruce for help with Bega donations.

Cray and Prawn rolls

Wow what an incredible day feeding the community with our Prawn + Cray rolls. Big thank you to Clamms Seafood, Sunny Bakery, Hinoki and our fresh produce partners. A massive thank you to the army of CNPS mums and dads that did so much in the background to set up the stalls, food and safety, signage, wash up… you’re all so amazing. And our gorgeous cash ladies Pip and Bess… 2 rays of sunshine on the till!

Anthony + Laura Yotis, The Fishmonger’s Son.

Bar

Steve Mifsud-Ellul, would like to shout out his terrific team of volunteers, starting with his unstoppable and brilliant wife Beth, Art Senoran, David Hansen, Dave Houchin, Vicki Vick, Liz Cummings, Briony Wood Ingram, Henry Tinsley, Sarah Jordan and Toby Winton-Brown.

Very generous suppliers include John Doggett, Marc Slater and Mountain Goat Brewery (with special assistance from Rebecca Slater), James Stoller, Rathdowne Cellars, Campari Group, Umberto Luigo, Gangemi Fruit Suppliers, and Bega (via Filamena Bruce).

BBQ

There were too many volunteers to individually thank for helping out at the BBQ on Saturday, but I'd like to call out all the people who stayed longer than their rostered shifts as we faced an early peak in business. It seems people love their sausages and burgers at 11am these days! A special thankyou to Tristan who went from a brief conversation about burgers whilst giving someone a lift, to co-running the stall with me from start to end, as well as his involvement in the lead-up to the big day.

I'd also like to especially acknowledge the Nelson Alexander staff who came along on to help. It's one thing to donate signs and socials, but they contributed a total of 26 hours of their time which was just phenomenal and kept us running a stall which needs alot of person-power to keep running throughout the day.

The Nelson Alexander team- Charlie Barham, Janine Ballantyne, Ryan Greig, Angus Mcpherson, Georgia Green, James Pilliner, Andre Daniel, Anthony Gattuso, Nichola Exarchos, Nick West, Tom Roberts, Attila Ciavarella, Ebony Newbound.

Thanks to Charlie Perry, Bill Fahey, Glenn Giblett, Ben Testa, James Hardiman, Coran Lang, Andrea Leggenda, Mike Wheelahan, Mark Robertson, Simon Bull, Nick (Briony's neighbour), Nick Reddaway, Shane McCullagh, Jan, Ash Barker, Marcus Lau.

When Liyat comes, all the process becomes fun and runs nicely! She is such a good mood maker so that we can all work smoothly and make the customers happy!

Phil made such nice Okonomiyaki for the customers! I'm very sure your Okonomiyaki was the best! Thank you very much for preparing and cooking at the busiest time!

Emilia thank you very much for your help washing! The end of washing is always the last big job! So it was so great to clean up all the last equipment with you!

I couldn't do it without all the cheerful and supportive members! Thank you so much, and I hope to see you next year!

Fruity Fondue

This was the first year for us as stall coordinators and the first year of Fruity Fondue at the CNPS Fete. Double challenge! After an epic amount of fruit chopping on Saturday, we arrived early at the school to set up our stall, get our chocolate warming and pin up our stall sign beautifully illustrated by the wonderful kids of 3/4B. The day started slowly – we’d only sold about 50 cups by mid-afternoon and were getting worried we weren’t going to sell out. But the afternoon rush swept us off our feet and we sold out of all our fruit and chocolate just as the clock struck 4pm! Phew, what a day.

We couldn’t have done it without our legendary parent volunteers: Olivia Simon, David Van Royen, Fiona and Dave Richmond, Ruth Williams, Stephen Del Monaco, Sophie Banks, Rhian Reed and Miranda Lo. Our awesome kid helpers: Ella VR, Beatrix M and Oscar M.  All of 3/4B for our beautiful signage artwork. And our generous supporters: Zu-liscious, Gangemi’s, Clays and Sennsational Berries.

Finally, our heartfelt apologies to the dishwasher team who, ahem, struggled to clean the chocolate off our reusable cups!

Erica Slocombe and Warwick Mihaly.

Thank you LOGISTICS LEGENDS!

It’s a huge job to set up and pack down such a major event! From dishwashers to BBQs to tables to marquees to umbrellas to sandbags to astro turf to signs to eskies to chairs to tables to Bain maries to gas bottles  - if it was there, someone carried it there, and packed it away again - and it was done absolutely seamlessly this year. Thank you so much:

Shannon - plumber legend

Jeremy West - electrician legend

Trish and Gaby and Cath D – extra-special legends

The Friendly Moving Men

Russell Kennett - number one crewmember who helped us all weekend AND Monday

Ben Testa – number one fix-it person

Bri Wood-Ingram - sign putter-upper extraordinaire

Tristan Cooke, Ash Barker, Brett Knowles, Brent Walsh, Mietta Walsh, Kylie Hansen and family, Michelle Cecchin, Nick Reddaway, Jan and Adrian, Coran Lang, Adrian Ubaldi, Daniel Rodgers, Jane Galvin, Don Townsend, Nic, Paul McGorrery, Dylan, Ange Morgan, Adam Vogel and Sam Gant

You’re all the best!

Kids Food

The kids food zone was once again a super popular place for kids to be with lots of sugary treats on offer.

Thanks to Olivia, Sara, Hamish, and Mia who twirled fairy floss all day. We upped it to two machines this year and still had lines all day!

Thanks to Safia, Shaz, Deva, Max, Michelle, Chloe, Elena and Hamish who marked wrist bands, managed money, crushed ice, and mixed syrups all day to keep the snow cones flowing.

Thanks to Marika and Brett who coordinated icy poles and drinks, and helped keep everyone hydrated.

Special thanks to our student helpers who helped with set up, making snow cones and serving fairy floss.

Cakes

Thanks to all the families, grandparents and community members who so generously donated cakes and sweets to the cake stall!

They all looked so delicious, and our stall was filled to the brim with treats thanks to all of you who got behind it!

Special thanks to:

-The girls in Year 4/5 that helped pack boxes during their lunch break- we couldn’t have got this done without you.  Even better, you did it while singing along to Taylor Swift.

-Gaby in the office - printing all the labels, and delivering to classrooms.

-Our awesome volunteers who helped on the day: All the Kates, Liz, Safia, Claire, Toby, Christie, Emma, Julia, Lani and Daniel.

Also thanks to local donations from:

  • Calle bakery
  • Filous Patisserie and Bakery
  • Florian

Many thanks,

Kate & Gabby

Wash Station

To all the wonderful people that volunteered at the wash station THANK YOU!

We are all proud to run a low waste Fete and it’s the muscle from the wash station that makes this possible. A huge achievement to wash plates and cups from more the 2000 meals and drinks.

Kylie, Justin, Michael, Ingrid, Paul, Parminder, Kathleen, Eddie, Vi, Rowan, Jamie, Mia, Tony, Susie, Jeremy, Olivia, Carlye, Asha and Leroy. Amazing effort and a huge thank you to those of you that did double and even triple shifts!! We couldn't have done it without you.

To all the 5/6 students who came to assist...you were most appreciated.

And, lastly, to the wonderful parents and students who jumped in at the end to help with packing up.

What a team effort.

Kate. x

First Aid

CNPS is lucky to have had a generous group of parents with nursing and medical backgrounds volunteer to keep us all safe, providing First Aid support on the day of the Fete. A very big thank you to the team: Zee Daley, Ange Mullins, Dave Morgan, Phil Tran, and Coran Lang!

Team Social

Thankyou to Nadia and Mattia! Mietta

Thanks so much to Mietta for all your hard work. You got the word out so beautifully on our socials, our community signage and billboards and even on the radio! You rock!

Alumni Lemonade

Thanks so much to all the beautiful ex students who helped to run the alumni lemonade stall, organsed by Erik DS. It was so lovely to see your faces again. There were quite a few old CNPS students scattered around the fete helping out during the day. Legends!

Plants

Thanks so much to Jan, Julia, Adrienne, Annika, Adrian, Michelle, Carli and Dave for all your help and incredibly hard work on the preparations, set up and running of the Plants stall. Carli your florestry skills on the day were beyond amazing!! The non-stop bouquets were just gorgoues and so popular. All the donations were very much appreciated but especially all the flowers from the very generous Stoller and Desai families. They completely sold out. Another special thanks to Jan and Michelle and kids for boiling mountains of sugar to make nearly 200 toffee apples the day before the fete, it was worth it!! Cannot thank you all enough, our Plant stall is a big team effort and we made it a mega success :)

Toys

Thanks so much to everyone who helped on the toy stall, including the day before. Sorting the toys was a big effort!  Melina, Bill, Emily, Ruth, Filamena, Sarah, Sarah, Shaila, Sally, Dan, Mohamed and Lisa
