Year 1

We’ve had a wonderful start to the year in 1A! During the first few weeks of term, we spent some time getting to know each other and forming new friendships. We also enjoyed decorating our new classroom with things we have made so far.

Each day in reading, we have read and unpacked the main idea of a variety of picture

storybooks such as 'Penelope’s Playground' and the 'Pig the Pug' series. These books have not only made us laugh but have taught us important lessons like being kind and respectful to others and making positive choices. We have also enjoyed building on our reading skills by playing games and solving puzzles in groups to end our sustained reading time.

In maths, we have been learning to order the days of the week and months of the year. Our favourite game is Sit Down Sunday!

We have also enjoyed some special events so far such as the First Aid incursion, and the Mini Olympics at EMC on Monday. 

We are looking forward to a great year ahead!
