Have you got your hat?
It is a requirement to wear a broad brim hat until the end of April. Be sun smart, bring your hat to school. Don’t forget to put your name on it as well!
Promoting healthy swimming
Swimming is a great way to stay fit and active, and an important skill for life. As our school participates in swimming programs, it’s important we all take steps to stop the spread of germs at the pool.
This summer, the Victorian Department of Health advises there has been an increase in the number of people infected with cryptosporidiosis (crypto) – a type of gastroenteritis. Some people are attending pools while infectious, which spreads the infection to others.
To keep pools safe and clean for everyone, please follow these healthy swimming steps before we dive into the pool:
- do not swim if you have diarrhoea
- shower and wash with soap before swimming
- wash your hands with soap after using the toilet
- avoid swallowing pool water
- change nappies in nappy-change areas only.
Please encourage your child to follow the above steps to support everyone’s safety in pools. Please also keep your child absent from swimming lessons or hydrotherapy if they have had gastroenteritis or diarrhoea in the 14 days before the lesson.
Families with any health concerns should see their doctor or contact NURSE-ON-CALL by phone: 1300 606 024 (available 24 hours).
For more information on protecting against gastroenteritis, families can refer to the following Better Health Channel pages:
- Healthy swimming, including a video with transcript

CSEF
The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.
Payment amounts this year are $150 for eligible primary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
It is important that funding made available in 2024 supports students to participate in school trips, camps and sporting activities this year rather than being held for future years. This funding can also be used in conjunction with any funding accrued from previous years.
If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
If you would like to apply for the first time, please contact the school office on 9789 7346 and ask for an application form.
You can also download the form, and find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education and Training’s Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) application form (education.vic.gov.au)
The Farm
As we move towards phase 2 of our schools farm redevelopment the LPS Farm Team would love to put together a support group to help setup and maintain our space.
This will mostly be within school hours with all equipment supplied. Jobs include: - gardening - weeding - planting - painting - maintenance of yards - small animal care on occasion - pruning of orchard. We aim to have the school student garden up and running ASAP so that we can get planting on next season's crops.
Please contact Jaime Humphrey jaime.humphrey@education.vic.gov.au
Credits
Dear Parents,
Over the next few weeks, we will be opening several excursions/incursions for payment on QKR.
We are asking that before you pay for anything can you please call the office on 9789 7346 or email langwarrin.ps@education.vic.gov.au to check for any credits you might have. We have a lot of credits sitting on students’ statements due to the couple of years we were in and out of lockdowns. This is money you have paid but the excursions/incursion didn't go ahead.
I have had a lot of families think they didn’t have any but when they have contacted us they are pleasantly surprised and have an amount that can be used to towards a current excursion/incursion.
Lost Property
Please remember to label all of your items clearly so we can get them back to you. This includes any sporting equipment, clothing, lunchboxes and drink bottles.
