Year 5

Hello from 5DL

We have had a great start to the year in 5DL, getting to know each other and settling into the rigour and routine of senior school.

In Year 5 we have been working on narrative and persuasive writing to help us feel more prepared for NAPLAN, which is coming up in a couple of weeks. It has been great to see what the students are capable of and what we can work on to improve their writing skills.

We are reading 'Mr Stink' by David Walliams as our class novel and have been enjoying it so far. In our reading lessons we are starting to learn about literature circles and practising the different roles required such as discussion director, summariser, and vocabulary enricher.

In Maths we start our lesson with warm up rotations, completing different games and activities each day. We’ve been playing the 10 pin bowling game, numberle (which is like a number wordle), dice multiplication, Mathletics and completing problem solving activities from the Think Tank boxes.

Well done to 5DL for working hard and upholding class expectations. We know we’re going to have a great year!
