Year 4

4R have enjoyed beginning their farm lessons over the past couple of weeks. Students have been expanding on their knowledge of farm tools and equipment, whilst also working hard at the farm to pull out the weeds. 

In reading this week, 4R have been working through the ‘Rainbow Serpent’ Dreamtime Story. We completed a character study of the Rainbow Serpent, discussing and writing about the character’s development and traits, as well as the appearance of the Rainbow Serpent. Students then designed and created their own picture quilt square. They were able to draw the Rainbow Serpent and write their descriptive words around the outside. 

4R have also began the topic of Data Representation, and across a couple of lessons they had the opportunity to come up with their own survey question and survey their classmates. From the data that they collected, students were then able to create either a dot plot or column graph to present their findings. Students also came up with questions about their graph that they could ask their classmates. 

It has been amazing to see the students working so hard and taking a lot of pride in their work and the way it is presented. Additionally, it has been great to see the students working together and forming new positive friendships.
