What's Happening In Secondary

Last week, our Year 7 and 8 students embarked on an exciting swimming trip to Splash. After an initial thwarted attempt due to adverse weather conditions, we were thrilled to finally make it happen on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon.

The journey began with a leisurely walk through the scenic Don Reserve, with students soaking in the natural surroundings and enjoying the camaraderie along the way. Upon arrival at Splash, our eager swimmers wasted no time in diving into the activities planned for the afternoon.

We conducted informal assessments of students' swimming abilities from swimming 50 metres to treading water and even diving under a kayak! It was a fantastic opportunity for us to gauge each student's competency level in the water. These assessments not only ensure safety but also help tailor future swimming activities to suit individual needs and skill levels.

Following the assessments, students had time for free swimming, allowing them to unwind, practice their skills and simply have fun in the water. It was heartening to see students embracing the opportunity to enjoy themselves while staying active and honing their swimming abilities.  While Mr Harvey ensured the safe return of our students back to school, we are glad to say that the Secondary bus is now up and running with the new bus seat finally arriving in Devonport. 

In other exciting news, Year 7 are off to camp at Fulton Park today, promising yet another adventure-filled experience for our students. Additionally, our Year 8 students are actively engaged in serving the Primary School community by assisting with the supervision and recording of results for today's Primary Athletics Carnival—an excellent opportunity for them to demonstrate leadership and responsibility.
