Junior School Godfrey is sharing the learning taking place in their class…
J01 has had a fantastic start to the year. Our first few weeks have been busy learning about our school values, routines, places in our school, making friends and building a supportive classroom environment.
J01 has explored our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience in the classroom and in different places around the school, including the office, library, canteen, playground, sandpit and garden area. Students have been eager to show our values and have begun collecting Froggy Dollars. Our Froggy dollar pouches are fast filling up!
In Writing, we have also been practising writing our names the school way and identifying each letter in our names. It has been amazing to see the growth students have made in such a short time!
In Reading, we have begun reading Milo’s Birthday Surprise to help us learn letter names and sounds. So far, we have learnt about the letter names and sounds for: m, s, f and a. Students are working hard to identify words that begin with these sounds and have loved creating craft pieces to help us remember the letters and sounds.
In Mathematics, our focus has been on counting forwards and backwards to 10 and using touch counting to help us count collections. We have used a range of hands-on resources to practise our collection counting and action songs to count through movement.
J01, you should be proud of your AMAZING start to primary school! I look forward to watching you bloom this year!
