Primary Diocese Cricket Trials, Secondary Bill Turner Cup
On Wednesday 10th April, Joey Sullivan, Cameron Smith, Bruce Antees and Nicholas Humphreys travelled to Tamworth to trial for the Armidale Diocese Cricket team. The students participated in various drills in the nets and a number of games too. Well done boys for representing St. Philomena's, we are very proud of your athleticism.
Congratulations to the following girls who have been selected in the Armidale Diocesan Girls Cricket team; Maggie Ball and Penny Vickery. Awesome work, girls!
On Wednesday 10th April students travelled to Narrabri for the Bill Turner Cup, held by Narrabri High School. The boys' team, fueled by ambition and grit, faced a formidable opponent and despite their valiant efforts, they were unable to secure victory, ultimately succumbing to a 7-0 defeat. Yet, amidst the disappointment, their sportsmanship shone through as they upheld the spirit of the game, showing resilience in defeat.
Meanwhile, the girls' team encountered unforeseen challenges of their own, leading to a decision to forfeit their scheduled match. Undeterred by this setback, they rallied together and engaged in a spirited friendly game between the two themselves. Despite the absence of an official match, their passion and unity on the field illuminated the day, reminding everyone that the true essence of sports lies in the joy of playing and the bonds forged through shared experiences.
