Religious Education

Liturgical Year Workshop
Last week, students in Years 3 and 4 took part in a Church Liturgical Year workshop. Students learnt about different times within the church year, including Ordinary Time, Lent and Advent.
During the workshop students matched a variety of items to their corresponding times and celebrations within the church year.
Shrove Tuesday Workshop
To celebrate Shrove Tuesday the students in the Junior School made pancakes with Mrs Trevaskis.
Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent. People enjoy pancakes on Shrove Tuesday in preparation for the fasting time during Lent.
Be ready… to pray
Over the past few weeks students have been preparing and organizing their prayer spaces.
Lenten Activities
Last week students learnt about Lent in their Religious Education Lessons.
Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the evening of Holy Thursday. It’s a time of preparation to celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection at Easter.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION - Yr 6’s
As Confirmation this year is on Saturday 11th May @ 6pm, we will be conducting a Parent/student Sacramental evening for the Year 6’s on Tuesday 26th March (last week of term) at 7pm in the school hall. This session should last about 1 hour and will be facilitated by Beth Walsh from MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools). With changes in the parish last year, we will now utlise other personnel to engage us into deeper understanding of the Sacraments.
There will also be some school notices regarding the logistics for the preparation for the Sacrament.
We will also be calling for the return of the children’s stoles that were last used in Year 4 for their First Communion. This will be done around week 8 (20th March) so it would be great if they could be located ready for their return in a zip lock or paper bag please.
